I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. I’m so ****ing happy right now. The very worst part of the game for me is dead!
JM5K Nerf: Thoughts?
Just now, DicesonFire said:Whats next? ban engine upgrade in large ships?
That would be awesome. Boosting PWTs were the original OP archetype in metas of past.
Amen and good riddance.
People who bought Raiders for Palp got the same pat on the head and told it’s still useful. The health of the meta is of paramount concern. You can still use all of it in casual, it’s not worth throwing the ship away. You just can’t wreck face with it in tournaments. Pretty much suck it up and adapt is I believe the phrase I see Imp players told over and over. It was a needed change so more things can come back. You guys will be ok.
Well this FAQ part actually made me feel so bad for the people who bought Triple Jumpmasters or those guys who would like to buy even one Jumpmaster in the future.
Like noted already, half of the cards are 100% useless for the ship.
Kinda borderline scammed feeling!
Dengar is still going to be a solid choice because of his pilot ability, and because of Expertise - he's just much more limited now on the benefits of K4 (which is good) and doesn't get range-bonus-denying torpedoes as well. Overall it's a good thing. It's a shame thematically that he can't take his own droid, and that the pack comes with cards it can't use, but those feel like necessary sacrifices to finally bring the Jumpmaster down to a reasonable level.
Personally, I don't feel much sympathy for anyone who bought three to field the U-Boat list, in any of its forms.
I do hope that the Title is given a Astro and torp a lot down the line. Not for personal taste, but more for the "it can use all the stuff in its box" part.
Single use Jumps will still have a place. Dengar can still be nasty and any of the other pilots with Expertise, Dengar, and title has some possibilities.

If they do that, it will undo a lot of the good that the FAQ has done. I think they do need to re-issue the pack with the changes made, but they certainly should NOT undo those changes!

But, said “new” player is likely, very likely in fact, going to have bought the Most Wanted Expansion, so the cards CAN be used, just not with what they are sold with. Mind you, this ship could hardly equip three salvaged astromechs at once, so some of the upgrades were always not being used.
Now, I do believe they will put the salvaged astromech and torpedo upgrades in the Punishing One title.
however, perhaps an illicit upgrade that adds Salvaged Astromech could work. Imagine the shenanigans of that.
All in all, making changes to cards is not a bad thing. My hopes that the Striker gets it's bombs and the yet to be released Silencer gets its canon stated, via official Star Wars website databank, missiles.

Not so much, from my mind. Triple torp boats are gone regardless. Those that take the title still can't really take the classic torpedo builds as there wouldn't be the second torp slot for EM.

As it is, the Jumpmaster expansion now ships with cards it cannot use, which...I mean...huh?
At this point I have to agree with the "FFG has no effing clue what they're doing" crowd.

Most wanted has several cards in it that are “useless” unless you buy other ships. Not making this any easier for you I’m sure but it is fact.

Yes, triple torp boats die either way, but it also reins in the K4 Security Droid which is a big deal for even a single Jumpmaster (Dengar in particular). Making it more difficult for him to set up a fully modified shot by removing crucial green moves is a big deal and, I believe, necessary to bring him into line. Perhaps, then, the Punishing One title needs a 'no non-unique droid' clause like the Havoc title has - because Unhinged is almost certainly the reason for removing the droid slot.

I can agree with that.

Well I'm one of the lucky ones that never bought triple Jumpmasters.
I guess it had some, but this was known before you put your money in, not after. But I'm sure you can't deny that it was pretty darn dirty move from FFG!
Good riddance!

Single torp and Salvaged Astromech on the title would be reasonable
I just realized that the way is now open for a 2-3 point title that gives JM5Ks one or more of those icons back.

As someone who thought that thing was obnoxious, I hope this is the case. It would be a real crappy thing for a ship to come with a bunch of cards it can't take, regardless of its status. I think that was real misstep if Punishing One isn't changed.
******, now everyone has to just take a sharpie to their cards. You know I think X-wing should go to a digital list format like a codex or squadron book or something.
Now the Jumpmaster isn't the essential Scum purchase. It's probably a Protectorate and Scurrg, and maybe G4H.
Edit: And Shadow Caster!

But dengar with the punishing one title is 45 points making it the second most expensive pilot after han solo an rear admeral chiraneau so the base ship is undercosted but with the title, it is a fairly costed ship.
I did like a previous sugestion that all jumpmaster 5000 pilot increase in points by 2 while decreasing the title by 2 and keep the torpedoes and salvaged astromech to the title.

you're not factoring in the bonkers ability and dial
1 jm5k was a problem but not impossible, i beat dengar more than i lost to him but he make me work for it every time.
Loss of doubletorp isnt that big of a deal he usually didnt use them. Loss of mech hurts though, i think the title should add that back in.

It's only for competitive play. People can kitchen table the pre-FAQ stuff all they like.
It will be awkward for a kitchen table player to try the competitive scene and get hit with a few pages of FAQs that turn their lists upside down.
