The FAQ is real!! All the nerfs

By LHyoda, in X-Wing

I am okay with most of the changes, even dropping those torps of from JM5K, but I don't really like that they took of Astromech from it. Doesn't make sense to me, nor should it.

Mindlink, I have been playing with this in my mind, so only two it is.

I'm glad they killed Biggs, because they killed my Dengar too. Just to get more even, no other reason really. But I'm very annoyed that Dengar just got screwed because no more Astromech, no Painbot.

It is lot to chew on! Might take some time to really digest all this, I'm so darn confused already, so now even more.

So ideas, how I should proceed form here, considering my upgrades and all pilots and what not, should I start to modify them with a permanent marker or stickers, or is it also too "permanent" solution, if they change something again?

And none of the ships or upgrades I enjoy playing with were negatively effected. FAQ gets a thumbs up from me.

Same here. The joy of playing casual and not competitive.

Or, conversely, we can ignore all the errata because we were not abusing the crap out of those builds.

Oh, and you CAN Vizago cloaking device away to keep being cloaked, BUT you can't Feedback while cloaked, cause you can't attack while cloaked. So Bomb dropping cloaked quadjumpers are A-OK.

And they cleared up Minefield mapper, aka, Once per card. And also put an FAQ on Bobagator for some reason.

Wow. They really RAPED Biggs. Why? He is not a great pilot, has low pilot skill. This is offensive to me. If Biggs' ability is only once per game then he has no real value on the table.

Every time I've seen people suggest buffs to the T-65, they add "except Biggs" or some other clarification. Perhaps the developers had a similar idea and are nerfing Biggs to allow for a general X-Wing buff down the line?

“Genius”

genius_errata_web.png

For much the same reason that Advanced SLAM is being limited, “Genius” is being changed with the goal of both allowing interaction and curtailing some its power.

The new text for “Genius” is: “After you reveal and execute a maneuver, if you did not overlap a ship, you may discard 1 of your equipped [Bomb] Upgrade cards without the “Action:” header to drop the corresponding bomb token.

With this update, a ship equipped with “Genius” can no longer overlap an enemy ship and then bomb it. “Genius” is still quite powerful, but ships equipped with it must be piloted more precisely to be useful, rewarding players who can judge the distance to end a maneuver just short of the enemy rather than simply rushing into them and knowing the effect will work. It also allows the opponent an opportunity to use blocking to strategically prevent a player from dropping a bomb.

DOES THIS MEAN USING GENIUS WITH BOMBLETS REQUIRES YOU TO DISCARD BOMBLETS?

Based on the text of the card, that sounds correct.

Never. I sleeve all of my cards and then those sleeved cards go into my binder pages. I will be printing out copies of the corrected cards and taping them to the outside of the sleeves. What if they bring it back? Then you have black ink all over your cards.

The sleeved cards got too big for my binder, so I keep sleeves in my kit now and remove the cards "if" I need them. But honestly for casual play I typically pick the squads and print them out from a squad builder. Otherwise with all of the changes it get very hard to know what you're card should actually say.

Just in time for the Savior of the Empire to arrive!

Wow. Too far.

Makes me kinda wonder if Jumpmaster really is good expansion to buy after half of it's upgrades are not really fitting in it anymore! I'm one of the luck ones that never bought more than one of them, because I was kinda worried if I do invest in it that it might be worthless one day.

Questions is, how you all guys feel now who bought triple Jumpmasters?

I'm sorry for you guys being screwed by FFG, I'm sure they won't be saying apologies, so I feel I could!

Any chance ever that FFG will reconsider and give us replacement cards? This game is a pain without them.

Biggs feels to heavy to me. I thought they would do something like "choose an enemy ship during deployment. That ship must target you if able to during the combat phase" It's not as powerful, but still keeps him relevant.

Doesn't make sense to me, nor should it.

Jumps don't have Astromech slots normally, nor torpedoes.

FFG should park them on the Title, but they may have decided that's still too cancerous for play.

Jesus Christ with FFG!!! C'mon guys! :D

I may actually start buying xwing again after this. The ones saying the jump comes with cards it can’t use now, who cares? I have no numbers but in the past couple years how many of those have they sold? I’ll bet it’s gotta be close if not top ship sold in the whole game. If they never sell another oh well and the scurge of xwing has finally been dealt with. Good for ffg on that one. There is so much good in this faq.

Do you think Bigg will last long enough to use his ability?

It shocked me too. My friends who were testing some Biggs nerfs at the end of last year seemed to think it would come down to he'd be required to be in the same shooting range by the attacker to proc so he couldn't try and hide at range 3 or stay out of range 1 if the target was there, but hey, he has been the most game bending card out there since the game's inception. But wow....

no, because I dont' think we will see him in the rebel deployment anymore ;)

Why did they nerf pulsed ray shields?

Probably. There are going to be other higher priority targets.

Maybe FFG was planning on nerfing a bunch of other cards, and Biggs' ability triggered so that the nerfs hit him instead?

Edited by JJ48

I rather like the Biggs nerf...from a "fluffy" perspective. And I like that it opens the path for an X-Wing title buff.

Oh yeah. And as someone else said above, this makes many of the Squadron Builder programmers out there...weep. Thanks for all your hard work, guys!

I'm sorry if I don't understand, but yes they had before all that, right? Or am I missing something here?

Other than they don't anymore..

This would have been the better way to go. I like all the changes but this one. I'm sure he was a legitimate problem, but ****! The poor bastard got curb stomped "American History X" style.

Nope. He has seen his last attack run.

I also like it. Takes Biggs down to the power level of other X-Wings.

If you watch Episode IV, Luke, Wedge, and Garven are all better pilots than Biggs.

RIP Biggs... now they can bring out an x-wing fix

He means lore-wise. Lore-wise, Dengar added all that stuff to the Punishing One - normal Jumpmasters are scout ships used for mapping hyperspace lanes
