Which list is the first you put on the table once Guns for Hire arrives?

Like any good Scum player, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Guns for Hire, now less than 24 hours away. I even got a brief glimpse of my very own copy when I paid for my preorder in my FLGS today.

So, I'm probably not the only one theorycrafting away, trying to decide which list to try out first.

Let's hear it. What are you flying first - Starvipers, Vaksais or just plundered upgrades?

The thing I've been obsessing over for a few days is Viktor Hel. I just have this feeling that with Scavenger Crane, Stealth Device, and Ion Pulse Missiles, he's a really nice all-in-one control package. I just can't work out how to fit him in a list.

I've already tried the new StarViper a few times, in person and on Vassal.

Nothing in the expansion really interests me, tbh.

Triple named Scum HWK-290s w/ Ion Turret, PRS, Ion Discharger, and a handful of other upgrades.

Dunno a name for it yet ( 4k Sun), but The Khiraxzes can be built a couple different ways, that extra 2(4) points I can spend on stuff for them means I could add glitterstim/ion dischargers/feed back array and pulse ray shield/vectored thrusters, or some other combination of things. I really like the Munitions failsafe / hotshot combo though.

Fenn and Thweek are pretty much set in how I want to run them. Just not sure on what will be good on Talonbane. There are some points to play with here. You do probably want an initative bid with Thweek. Either to out Thweek their Thweek or to Shadow your opponents highest pilot skill.

you get two Loks (deadeye, extras, harpoons and chips), one with Boba Fett

and you get one Thweek (Star Viper 3, Virago, FCS and stims)

and you hope to run into Biggs for utter hilarity

I'll probably be fooling around with Thweek for weeks and in various combinations. I'll also try out triple StarVipers for the heck of it, a soon-to-be-nerfed list will involve Talonbane, Guri, Fenn and attanni mindlink, and I'll finally try flying a bombing list with Emon and/or Nym, seismic torpedoes and Jostero.

Well, the genuine answer is: 'two ships that have nothing from Guns For Hire', which is the same thing really?

also a decent point to make in that G4h doesn't seem like it'll set the competitive meta ablaze. Much as I like Vipers, they're just not busted enough to field with any relish to the point where I'd only fly Thweek because his ability could lead to a lot of distinctly different (and hilarious) games

The Vaksai is something I will personally never fly, as my proxies of it left me incredibly underwhelmed. I will stick to the SCURRG for ordnance because the SCURRG can carry Boba Fett, which is huge in this meta (Dengar's Punishing One, Dash's HLC, Miranda's TLT, Nym's bombletts...)

FFG's going to have to make good on some necessary erratas for the g4h ships to properly shine, and for arc-locked ships in general to shine. turrets are just busted, especially at the moment

Yep, my answer was going to be: pretty much the same Imperial list I've been playing for a couple of months now! :P

For a fun 100 point game, i was planning on flying Dalan Oberos with VI, AS, and some other stuff plus 2 black sun assassins with predator. Because starvipers are fun and it will give me a great opportunity to mess around with the funky new barrel roll.

After that, looking at doing an Epic game with a full Black Sun theme for my army. Black sun assassins, black sun aces and black sun soldiers all led by Prince Xizor.

I'm not getting it anytime soon, probably at Xmas. Bit I'll get 2 and another SViper on the side. It'll give me 5 Vipers. I love them too much!

So it'll be some sort of triple Viper list... But really I'm thinking Black Sun EPIC!
