Hey guys,
I have been looking for it, but without success: is there a max/cap of the number of Force powers that a Force-user can learn?
Stupid and simple question
Thanks

No.
Yes, the number of powers that exist.
Thanks

While correct, there is nothing stopping a GM from creating new ones. The rules are pretty straightforward for how the progression tree would look, based on things like Range/Strength/Control, etc. And considering how they are stretching for new powers, with things like Mend, I'd allow just about anything home brewed at this point, as long as it was structured properly and balanced.
Mend? What the heck is Mend from? Do you mean Manipulate from Endless Vigil ?
Is that the one that lets them repair metal stuff? If so, then yes that's what I meant. Sorry. I barely even registered that power, and consider it an incredibly silly thing for the Force to allow you to do. But yeah, that's what I meant.
Yeah, that's the one . I actually don't have a problem with Manipulate; if the Force can bolster a living thing, which are, in general, very fragile, why couldn't it bolster a machine? The working would just need to be bigger, and it wouldn't have the built-in frame of a living essence to hang from, so it'd require specialized skills.
And fixing machines is literally just telekinesis, which is something the Force is well-known for, you'd just need very fine control a a good idea of what you're doing, one again requiring a specialized skill set.
My opinion, of course . If you don't like it and don't want it at your table, then that's your prerogative!

I've always felt the Force was more focused on living things, hence why they like to call it the Living Force. And to suddenly say "Oh, yeah you can fix broken machinery too" just feels a little outside the theme of the Force, and more just D20 "we need a spell that can repair damage on inanimate objects and golems".
Except of course for all that ship lifting, lightsaber building, lightsaber pulling, throwing of objects, ripping up of objects, etc.
I personally agree, Darzil, but there's no need to continue. Mr. Ferret doesn't see it and doesn't like it, so we don't need to go any further than that.
Fun fact: in order to buy all upgrades of all currently extant Force powers, a character would need to spend 2,600 XP! If they had a Mentor, that drops to 2,515.
That's an entire character's career spent just getting Force powers!

And assuming that PC had at least FR 2, I would be utterly terrified to ever encounter them.

Or a very generous GM.

Well, they'd need at least FR 3 to be able to buy Protect/Unleash, so...yeah, me too !
Ouch!
But yeah, we MarcyVersed the 'Manipulate' power to be the Jedi's dirty little secret, one of those many things they don't like to talk about. Because that would mean admitting that droids might sort of be living creatures, and soon enough the uppity rust-buckets will want wages and holidays and unions and marriage, and we don't want that, do we?
Some Sensitives are born with the ability to read and interface with machines, which goes directly against their spiel about 'the Living Force'. They get put in the Sentinel Order, which is where they put all the misfits, dropouts, weirdos and Dark Jedi for the most part, those who don't have the poetry skills or black eyeshadow to become Sith. So people with Manipulate grow up feeling bad about themselves and they don't have many SpaceBook friends (not friends who aren't robots anyway)

Ah yes, good point, I forgot that one was behind an FR 3 wall. But that just makes it worse!

I mean, it's easy to forget; last time I got myself tested, I rated a 4.3 on the Force scale, so I'm more than capable of diving into that power whenev...
I mean...Yeah, it's a big one, alright!

Ooh, that's really interesting! And actually... I was thinking that Kemna would have no reason to ever go for the Manipulate power, because she doesn't really like machines, but if this is the explanation... maybe once she gets over her droid prejudice, she will start to invest in it?
EDIT: Manipulate and Misdirect were the two I had definitively crossed off the list of her potential powers, because she's not comfortable with machines and she absolutely HATES illusions. She thinks people live under the spell of enough of them already, why would she ever want to add more?
She would really not like Ashara...

There may be more if the Mystic Book gives us one.

*Crosses fingers* Yesyesyesyesyesyes...!
Or maybe Ffg pulls a fast one and puts it in Warrior.
'Tis possible! It think it's one of the those things people could learn if they wished, but few would ever even try, because it exposes you to icky robot thoughts and you get socially shunned by all the cool kids.
And our Jedi are all about orthodoxy, and conveniently ignore anything that doesn't support their traditions.
But maybe it's not that far removed from talking to plants? And if droids really are sentient creatures... who knows what things might be possible?
Edited by MaeloraThat's the sort of thinking that Kem likes! I'll consider it! She's already not cool, so getting shunned doesn't mean much .

I feel that you're wasting time for information until unlimited power comes out ??
