Any pistol-like weapon that uses Ranged (Heavy) skill?

By MonCal, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

hello!

Title says it all. The explorer we are building uses a Model 77 air gun. However, even if it is considered a joke weapon (ah the irony) by most authorities, we are looking at something that you can have in a cantina without raising a lot of eyebrows. Since the character has Agility 3 but no Ranged (Light) skill, we are asking this. the answer is likely to be "no", but just in case.

Thanks :)

Dr 45 Dragoon Cavalry blaster is exactly what you need.

It's a heavy blaster with extendable stock that turns it into a carabine. The pistol uses light, but the carabine uses heavy.

Isn't the difference between Ranged Light and Heavy whether the gun is 1 handed or 2 handed? That is why the DR 45 becomes Heavy in carbine mode - it goes to 2 handed and thus heavy.

It would come down to what he can hide or not really? Maybe look at the modular rifles that he can snap together when needed.

There is no small, light, concealable weapon that is also large and heavy.

But you can have a concealable carry that gives you the leverage of a rifle while effectively being bare bones. The Dragoon is a little silly as it's basically one of the best all round weapons in the game, but as it is a pistol (I think) it cannot benefit from rifle upgrades. It is strictly speaking millitary hardware, so being found with one of these could have drastic consequences.

Otherwise kinda gotta make do. The 77 is an incredible rifle for what it does, though there is nothing stopping a player from smuggling a weapon through customs, if they felt they needed it. Integrated hosters (from no disintegrations) and stripped down (from Special modifications) means you could potentially smuggle light rifles through customs. Be weary though, you are opening a tin of worms if you go down this route. Sometimes a character needs to make do with the softer option.

Also, don't sweat it. In a Cantina you might well be in Short range, so one difficulty, and facing enemies without defence.

3 Green + 1 Blue (Aim) against 1 Purple is 75% chance of success.

So just take a pistol.

And a heavy weapon specialist may well have true aim, which also works on pistols, that would upgrade the check.

ok. Here it shows our noobness in the system. I had not considered that hitting at short range would be so easy without proper skill in the ability. Thanks for the pointer. And thanks for finding the dragoon carabine for us. Sounds like a real piece of bad manners for the opposition!!!

Edited because phone posting messes a lot with the proper words to be used

That is of course, ideal conditions.

If they are fighting a Nemesis with Adversary 2, Defense 3, with 2 upgrades from Force Sense and a couple of setbacks from environmental conditions (and GM rules they stack with Defense), then they'd only have a 15% chance of success untrained with no talents, one aim maneuver and 3 agility. (and a 16% chance of despair!)

Since it is a solo character, I do not expect to put her in such a despairing position! :D But good to know. :)

A "stripped down" (SM p. 56) carbine should be easily concealable.

I'd love to see more man-portable non-Restricted Gunnery weapons, as we currently only have one (the SakTek Lightning Gun).

DH-17 blaster carbine has an encumbrance on par with a heavy blaster pistol and, as it is a carbine, can be fired one-handed at short range and uses Ranged (heavy). Also has autofire and inaccurate for when you want to hit everyone except who you're aiming at.
