How does the 'objectively correct' meta deal with this?

Their first question's going to be the size of the event, how many rounds and if there was a cut. Furthermore, what the prizes for the event for (aka what was on the line).

As someone who has also won a game once with a punisher, good for you I guess? If you're trying to go from having a win with a punisher to "meta is meaningless", you're possibly confused about what "the meta" means.

I mean, you can theoritically win with turetless hawks... doesn't change the fact that the statistics favor other lists...

It is not exactly meaning less ,but you got a point. A good player can make any ship good, and good players know how to make the list that they are playing win, and not just playing the lists that wins.

This is a story of "I want things to mean things".

I'm not saying the meta is false, i'm saying it doesn't exist.

Just a bunch of people who don't realize the hot lists are lists that people had to come up with to suit their own play style. Then they just copy it because they don't want to stimulate the part of their brain that uses imagination.

Wait. What?! There most certainly is a meta. In a competitive field there are less seen lists and more predominant lists and there are more successful and less successful lists due to construction and rules interaction... that’s the meta. Sure, you can try to discover a list that redefines the meta instead of following, but lead or copy, there’s still a meta

If I’m likely to face certain lists, I prepare for those or not at my own peril. The meta is there. You can ignore it, but like gravity, it doesn’t care.

Again, what’d you win with that punisher? If it’s a Regional, you’ve shifted the meta. If it’s Tuesday night X-Wing night at the kitchen table? You’ve won a “meh”.

Of course the meta exists. The meta is just what lists/ships are strong, and therefore popular.

Some people don't have the time or know-how to build a list from the ground up. There are others that like playing the game, but don't particularly enjoy the list-building aspect. It helps them to be able to take a list that other players have already proven to be good, and tweak it to suit them, rather than having to start from scratch.

You seem to be under the impression that you're imparting some great wisdom upon us, when in actual fact you're just spouting a bunch of elitist dribble. Go troll somewhere else.

META IS MEANINGLESS to me

because I FLY WHATS FUN and interesting to me

I love to BUILD ORIGINAL LISTS I find I do better with lists that suit my play style

but that does not mean META MEANS NOTHING to others
