Thoughts on the FFG Interactive announcement?

Any thoughts on how or even if this will affect the rpg section and specifically the star wars game?

The press release definitely has the slant of focusing on the boardgames but I kind of get the feeling that Asmodee wants to do everything and they might try to renegotiate the digital aspect with the mouse/ea.

It would be nice to see some digital pdfs of books eventually. My only concern is that they put out a subpar official product in a quest for $$$ (e.g. character generator) that is worse than the existing amazing community contribution (oggdude's).

As I understand it, the problem with ebooks is in the license with EA, and that expires in 2023. So I don't think we'll see any electronic Star Wars stuff (besides the dice apps) until then (unless EA and Disney/Lucasfilm agree to renegotiate or something).

Unless of course they make it rain money to hire Oggdude as an official employee (or just buy it outright).

Ever since Battlefleet Gothic Leviathan came out I've been hoping for something similar for Star Wars Armada. Maybe it will happen, and if it does it it canonizing the MC30C will make me very happy since the 30C is one of my favorite ships introduced in Star Wars PC/console games

They can't even do PDFs. I doubt their Star Wars license covers software.

Digital pdfs and stuff like that would be great, but the reasons for them not already existing are buried deep in the eldritch licensing rituals, so I doubt this will change anything in that regard. A shame, because getting to play Armada or something similar without having to drive an hour+ to a store or a friend's house would be quite awesome.

Wasn't there an announcement for an Imperial Assault mobile game or something? Perhaps they've actually gone about changing those licensing restrictions. Wouldn't get my hopes up, though.

They are quite clear that this new studio is targeting bigger budget Steam games. This isn’t a mobile app or companion app company. Considering who is in charge I would love a few things:

1. Dragon Age style RPG set in the world of Runebound.

2. Rokugan Total War

3. A Blend of Roguelike and FPS in Netrunner. Blending elements of Hitman, Assasins Creed and other stealth games.

I'd like to see online exclusive content. Stuff that makes a good web article but maybe not an entire splatbook. WotC does this really well with their Unearthed Arcana segments. It would be a great way for FFG to introduce some species options or even some universal specializations that don't really fit in the career books.
