While I'm not terribly interested in the digital versions themselves, if it means they eventually push towards app integration to regularly update X-Wing cards (costs, abilities), I'm all for it.
X-Wing balance has some things it could ape from competitive online games (eg. Blizzard keeping on top of Overwatch/Hearthstone)
So... FFG Digital Games. How will it affect the miniatures game?
No licence for any star wars related digital product. Not even PDF files of the RPG stuff is allowed. All thanks to EA's exclusive star wars licence.

Interesting. Not even companion apps, like the ones they have for Descent and Mansions? I mean, they do publish the X-Wing FAQs in digital pdf form.
Edited by takfarThe app for Imperial Assault likely had to be hammered out, as I imagine it was a bit of a new wrinkle in the license, much more than the dice app.
And going digital with the cards is not likely to happen, as it kills their sales format.
If by some miracle they get the digital license, let's see how close they get to the X-Wing mobile business plan I gave the Asmodee brass last year :-)
Edited by sozinThis may prove to be a godsend for folks with disabilities (like me) that may have major difficulty handling game bits, tokens and templates. Good news!

I wasn't really envisioning "going digital" with the cards, but making some kind of format where the app would look at the card, recognize it and sound out any updates. It would make memorizing (or carrying a printed version of) FAQ changes unnecessary. Which would also mean the cards could be updated more regularly, including price changes.
I suppose it would be a bit harder to do with no QR code printed in the card, but far from impossible.
That or, simply, manually insert your and your opponent's lists there, or better yet, save, upload and download lists to check for any updates. Sure people could potentially use that list as a proxy in unofficial play, but FFG have never really seemed that worried about proxies, even uploading reasonable images of their own cards online.
Could be more of these.
This may have nothing to do with X-wing. However after their TOME debacle this could mean a greater investment into virtual app support. So there is no way of telling what exactly this means to us.
Allowing digital cards would be nice. Save me having to buy a TIE I can’t stand due to needing Intensity
Hybrids are good. Don't care much for purely digital versions.
Not at all.

Another reason to dislike that hive of
scum and villainy
microtransactions and season passes.

Wait what, is the Imperial Assault app out?
