How are you practicing for Regionals...

... and list-building, knowing there is an incoming FAQ less than a month away?

I'm pretty bitter about it, as I'm not in the know and my regional is this calendar year.

Any suggestions for running Miranda, post SLAM FAQ (one of the known data points)?

Mostly just screwin' around with creative lists. It's really hard to commit to a list with so much change in the pipeline.

I'm working up my tolerance for all the inevitable complaints. Then, I'm gonna stay home and play EPIC!!!

Waiting for the rest of the waves coming up to be fully revealed...

...flying and flying against currently strong meta lists...

...and trying out things that might work against current meta.

As to your running Miranda with Adv SLAM nerf, just look at 2nd place at GenCon THEZACKMATTHEWSCAROLINAKRAYTSPODCAST Ego MKIII list. Although with Harpoon Missiles coming out, that can easily not work as well anymore. Too much change on the horizon so I'd be flexible with lists for now.

I reprogrammed K2S0 to fly all versions of Biggs/Low, Quad TLT, Trip Jumps, and Nym.

Its very helpful but extremely discouraging and I could do without all his snarky comments.

He really is not a very nice droid. Its necessary though if I want to see the matrix for the first time.

I am flying multiple lists to get reps. I find it to be a good strategy regardless, but especially with this situation.

floating down a river of my own tears

I just fly my own lists & stay away from OP meta lists everyone flies at the moment.

Then I practice it and laugh my *** off when the netlists get nerfed 48 hours before the tournament.

Having fun, flying jank and alternate formats.

Our regional isn't until March.

My regionals are 5 months away, so I'm not.

I'm making educated guesses like most everyone, and flying what I find fun out of those guesses.

I'm working on my casual lean and crush of Nym / Miranda / JM5K, followed by my most sincere, "Oh, God, I'm so sorry."

I'm really getting the reps in. (Brah.)

I still don't know when it is. I thought our one had already passed by, but I'm evidently wrong. Either way, the answer is TIE Bombers. I took them against high meta lists to Top 8 last time. I don't see any reason to not continue to seek the hilarious reactions I get from dropping 4x Bombers on a table, from both my opponent, and onlookers.

I’m not, I’m giving up on forking out for big events I’ve no chance of winning! Casual play closer to home instead. I’m supporting my FLGS’s events, but not planning on doing anything bigger than their SC.

If you mean how do I prepare the day of usually by pounding a couple of beers then vomiting them back up cause of nerves.

As far as the weeks and months of prep work usually I'll do a lot of research into the current competitive environment, determine what lists I'm most likely to face and then play dozens of games against those lists always tweaking what I'm flying to see how it matches up. After about 50 or so games usually I'll have a good understanding of where my list is it then go ah **** I'm just gonna fly some B-Wings again.

I don't have access to meta-wing for some reason unknown to me, but isn't LRS or GC Miranda with a missile a thing in many lists?

And you also have EI to make up for it, so advanced slam is not really a meta-warping change for Miranda...

I am flying like crazy. And I am flying everything that looks even remotely fun. That is the best preparation against salt. And the only thing that can screw up regi … wait a second. I am still training for nationals. There are still at least 2 coming. And you suggesting that all my hard training should be nullified just because you are salty about some silly missing faq and unimportant regional training?
(In all fairness, I am not usually going to nationals, but the last 3 are all so close and in interesting locations. so I am for once actually tempted ;-))

Proton Bombs. Proton Bombs everywhere.

Who in his right mind would run Miranda with concussion missiles and a bomblet generator?

OP cubed is never with ASLAM as far as I can tell, but often with concussion missiles and a bomblet generator. An example is the Hungarian national champion.

I'm hoping Wave 12 does come out in December, so I can bring triple gunboat or Double Gunboat+Vader to regionals. I'm practicing now by flying Vader and 3 TIE/fo. It's not meta-competitive, but at least it doesn't auto-fold to anything.

hah! I wasn't sure if you're joking or not =)

Practice? I didn't really practice for Nationals, so why should I oh... Dang it, now I have to prove it wasn't a fluke, don't I?

Meh. I'll see if I have a quality list by then. Or if I can even go... No dates for Canada yet.
