Tabletop Admiral getting an overhaul. Could use some input

Huh. So it is. Not sure how I missed that, haha. Good work!

Having it under Sort was counterintuitive for me, for what it's worth. I was thinking of a way to limit what I saw to only those of a certain cost, like the site does for traits, so I didn't think of this.

Would it be enough, do you think, do have the command cards only show up for ones you can actually use, or do you think you should still be able to search by "Darth Vader" or something?

Maybe a button by each card on your list to have it filter cards specific to that? Not sure how best to do that, and don't want things to get TOO sloppy, but I'm open.

The thing is, I don't use this site to just build lists. Sometimes I just want to look up a card. If I want to look up Diala's unique command card, I want to be able to do that quickly, via the search bar somehow. Not to mention that other site , but I think IA Armies has this feature.

Again, thanks for searching for feedback and for your work on this!

I also moved from Ia-armies to TA. Great site.

Here are my thoughts:

1-Maybe you could put the + sign at the end of the card name to prevent unnecessary scrolling (as it is, it's not very user friendly on a phone...). Also, the faction sign beside the card name could help building multi-faction deck.

2-I love the possibility to save your collection, but you are not limited to what you own when deck building (you can put 4 reg jawa, even if you own 1...) This i very frustrating when building the command deck. Also, I like building thematic games (ex: Rancor Vs AT-PT with non-unique characters), but it can be very complicated building deck without repeating a card... Can you add the possibility to do multi-decks on a list?

3-Search/sort engine needs a little bit of love... Some command cards don't appear when sorting by trait, or searching by card text. Ex: Sorting the Trooper trait, Covering Fire appears, but not Reinforcement or Provoke. You have to search with the trooper keyword to see those cards, but then you won't see the cards with the trooper trait (Grenadier)...

The + sign is SUPPOSED to be at the end, but for some reason in some environments it goes to the next line. Either way, I'll figure out a solution that works for everyone in the new version.

#2 I would love to do. It's a pretty big undertaking though since I'll have to find out how many of each card comes in which set and all that. Not impossible, and hopefully it won't be so bad, but yeah that's why I haven't done it.

3. It's a bit weird. I guess I drew a hard line at "this card has a trait" and "this card just mentions a trait", but in all reality I guess it might as well have that trait. Hopefully the streamlined version of the builder will solve that problem. Maybe I'll just make a "traits mentioned" field in the DB and have that also sort or something. I guess I figured search would cover that but I can see how it would be a lot easier to just have all trooper related cards in front of you, whether the trait is just mentioned or the card actually has the "Trooper only" trait or whatever.

I think what someone mentioend (maybe you) about just having a "character specific" option in the trait dropdown might do it. Then you can just add Diala to your list, and select that dropdown.

I have ZERO suggestions for improvement as this site is disgustingly good. Thank you for all of your hard work.

People are going to think you're my alt I use to talk up my site!

Haha! Maybe. But I do heart it.

I am also not an alt for @werdnaegni and can attest to the site's awesomeness. (did I do good? do they believe me?)

As for improvements, the pack selector is a little clunky?

Maybe add options for sorting them by Waves (not alphabetically?)

That way I can easily turn off waves I don't have, or select individual packs

I don't know why this is, but sometimes when I'm on my phone (an iPhone), some command cards don't come up (it's happened with Officer's Training and Son of Skywalker). I then log on with a desktop and can see the cards again. Not sure why that would be, but thought I'd let you know.

Only thing I can think of is maybe you're not logged into your account on your phone? Or a different account? Sounds like your packs owned haven't saved or something. But yeah that's weird. I'll be handling all that stuff differently in the new version though.

Oh, interesting. I've never entered what packs I own. Thanks for the heads up on that.

Ah okay that points out what the problem is. I think the default for packs owned is now too short of a string so it makes it so you don't own the newest stuff. I'll change that, but it'll only affect new accounts unfortunately. Best to just go in and save what you own by clicking on your profile.

Edit: Actually it looks like I did this a while back. Maybe your account is too old to have caught that change? Let me know about how long you've had your account if you could. Thanks!

You're already working on being able to edit Saved Lists, which is awesome! That's the single best thing you could improve for this site, I think.

After that, The biggest thing for me would be to have the lists of cards automatically (or by default) sorted by Cost, rather than by Name. And then the same thing for how the card lists (both Deployment and Command) are sorted in the "Printer View"...it would be nice if I didn't have to re-sort them after copying into my Word document. Regardless, I think that TTA is already better than IAArmies because TTA at least lists the Point Cost of the Deployment and Command cards in Printer View.

Thanks so much for this amazing tool! I use it all the time.

Would be nice if you could access your saved lists from the main page, rather than going to a subpage in order to click into the saved list. I button directly to the saved lists would be nice.

I would like to see the command card filters tweaked a bit, so that all command cards directly relevant to a trait appears when I use that trait as a filter, regardless of whether that trait is only on the headline of the command card or in the main text itself.

Working on this already, made a "Traits Mentioned" field, where I'll basically put the "this trait isn't at the top of the card, but if you don't have a deployment card with this trait there's no way you would possibly want this card" type stuff.

I think that's a good idea. Just a "my lists" thing in the top toolbar or something.

That would be quite fine indeed.

It's not quite that mechanical though. Note that "0 Spies" is a valid number of spies to cancel a 0-cost card.

Can you elaborate on what you mean?

Right, in that case I wouldn't put "Spy" for the mentioned traits thing. "Mentioned Traits" is maybe not the best name for it, but it's basically going to be my way of picking which cards should require a trait outside of the card's trait itself. Not sure if that's the best way to word it, but yeah.

Here's an example: Adrenaline.png

"Wookiee" would be a "mentioned trait".

For your example, I wouldn't put Spy as a mentioned trait. It's mentioned, but not in a way that restricts a list. or something.

With this, in the ia-skirmish data format, I would just add the keyword in the text, as part of the restriction list. So wookiee would be one of the restrictions to include the card in the command deck. It is still a restriction on who or what can use the card even if it isn't in the normal place you find it. (yeah, leave it to FFG to not be consistent on this).

I haven't been including restrictions in my JSON export. Should I factor that in? What exactly does it help, when it comes to exporting and importing lists?

Nope. You don't need to. I'm just saying the deploymentdb JSON files I use based on the IA spec assume that those restrictions are flagged in the command card restrictions section. Figure you can maybe leverage something similar in your backend database

Ah, gotcha. I'll check it out and see if I get some idea. Thanks.
