[Fanset] Golden Sun Battle Pack - Mia v. Jenna (New Boards Debut!)

By Cena2, in UFS General Discussion

((Finally edited. I miss the old boards.))

Here's my first stab at a fanset, a battle pack featureing 2 of Golden Sun's lovely ladies, Jenna and Mia.

Set will be updated as I complete it. Feedback is very much appreciated!

You gotta use the FCKeditor buttons instead of tags now, I've had to edit half my posts because I'd use a tag just on instinct. Why not just link people to the photobucket and let them browse on their own?

That promo card is busted as hell =P. Completely restart the game with a benefit to the guy who has lower starting vitality (ie, 7HSer) AND leave your starting character ready? "Oh, you worked so hard to get through my wall, but I lived, and now I think I'll just reset the game completely...". Make the cost something like "Permanently reduce your hand size by 1, commit your character, and RFG this card" and maybe it'll be slightly fairer. Slightly. :P

Really wasn't meant to be fair - I just wanted an excuse to use that art. XP

How was the rest of the set, BTW?

I like most of the stuff, although I'd like it a lot more if there weren't so many blank slots =P. Pretty much all of Jenna's moves are great, except Mad Blast, and that one should suck because it's from the Water/Fire set of Psynergies =P. Also, Searing Beam seems like it might be a little bit too versatile -- especially for Jenna in Desperation lol. Kill two of your foundations, then toss 5 momentum on the 2nd copy and blow an opponent's head off? Ouch. It's like Moonbeam fused with Ira-Spinta.

I kinda thought the 2cc actions were overcosted -- look at Blast, for example. In Penny Arcade, they made a 5/2 foundations that basically countered any 1 foundation your opponent played for a commit cost, and it was a 5/2 foundation. Blast has the same stats on an action that you can't even play multiple copies of! You could probably make it a 5/4 with a 1 or 2 momentum cost and it'd be perfectly fair (especially when Reflux has that great high block, a 3cc, and nearly as-good ability :D ).

Both Pure Wish and Iris seem a little messy too... the math for Pure Wish confuses the hell out of me lol - it seems like you are rewarded for getting your ass kicked but not laying a hand on your opponent, and when you're both nearly dead it gives you about 1 HP. On Iris, couldn't you just make the Enhance part of the static and only have 6 SPD? IE, "As an additional cost to play this attack, commit 2 [water] foundations and 1 of your [fire] foundations. After you play this attack, Responses may not be played until after it has finished resolving. This attack does not have an Enhance step. If this attack deals its printed damage or more, return your character to its printed vitality."

I just noticed as I was scrolling up to go back to the topic list -- "Beautiful Combination"? lolol
