I think people, including myself, should try to go lower in squad points so they can get anniciative. You get to move and attack before their opponent can.

Having an initiative bid is definitely useful. But, it very much depends on the ships you are flying and what you are up against. Arc dodgers: Fel, Vader, BB-8 Poe or Horn, Rau.....Many others all want to move last if possible to take the most advantage or their re-positioning abilities. Where as if you have a list with a heavy blocking strategy or whisper you want to move first/shoot first
