Whisper. It's quite unforgiving when you're unexperienced.
She was always out of combat or in rocks... Or dead.

But seriously, I've tried to get Eaden Vrill to work with no results, NuHan once, NuChewie with HotCops, Rage and Inspiring Recruits ALMOST worked, but not quite, and numerous times with Keyan Farlander (I miss my PTL+Lando (crew) combo build, nobody expects a B-Wing to have reliable double Evade token access*) but yeah I have tried a couple of times to get Talonbane to work and so far he just doesn't.
Guns For Hire soon though...
*I had Dash + Jan Ors floating about, it used to work.

Guri is probably mine. I really want her to be good, but she's just too PS5. Dalan Oberos would be similar except that I don't even really think he's worth the effort of trying ![]()
Luke Skywalker.
As a fan of the OT, he is my first choice of X-wing pilot. Mostly to finish as expensive space dust.
Cassian or any U-Wing pilot for that matter.

- Horton Salm. He has an excellent pilot ability (as long as you are not at range 1 and do not roll all focus results) However torpedoes can be arc dodged. As for turret TLT should work the best but thing is Horton is expensive and TLT is expensive and when you put expensive and expensive together you end up with too expensive.
Actually Vectored thrusters are really nice for Horton. Add TLT and R2-D6 + VI and you have an annoying piece for the opponent. Still too expensive, but quite usable.

mmm, I'd say something with low pilot skill is the key to improving your flying skills, like an academy pilot.
Juno is greate practice for judging the distances cause you have an immediate feedback.

He's my favorite pilot in all the lore, but his ability just isn't very good. It's okay on an Advanced with ATC because at least he gets to use it constantly, but even then, it's not great.
On the Defender, he doesn't even get the consistency to use his mediocre ability.
Maarek's ability should have been Miranda's ability.
Ooo, this too, I forgot this. Maarek Stele (TIE Defender) has in my opinion the coolest art in the game, plus a fun and unusual ability -- but there's never any reason to take him over Vessery or Ryad. He needs @Astech's Marksmanship fix.
pretty much any uwing.
i tried hard to get that stupid thing to be a valid choice. Support or offense or distraction anything!
Its terrible. But its fixable. All they need to do is reword the title flip to happen before you reveal (so youre 1agi, but you didnt telegraph wtf youre doing) and give it some actual support crew. Currently the only rebel support crew are great on THAT ship (i.e. you dontwant them on the uwing) or is arc-bound//just useless entirely. Nothing works with the uwing for squat and its not capable of handling its own in a dogfight due to the way its turnaround works.
Heck what absolute little perk it had going for it was immediately snuffed out by the wookie ship. Even its own crew would prefer the wookieship (jyn)!
Look at the Upsilon shuttle as an example of proper support mechanics. That ship would have the same issues since it cant really turn to continue the fight, even with boost (though it helps a LOT). However its still very potent in the right hands because of Hux, Inspiring Recruit, Pattern Analyzer, Fleet Officer, Rebel Captive, Palp, Coordinate, Systems Officer, and a pilot that makes all friendly ships at R1-3 count as R1 for your abilities. It actually has the tools to be a support and a dang good one...wtf does the uwing have? Targetlock extensions.
Edited by Vineheart01Poe. I’m serious. I really want to figure him out. Part of my bucket list
Kad Solus over here. You'd think this build would be okay, but he just doesn't work for me.
Kad Solus (25) - After you execute a red maneuver, assign 2 focus tokens to your ship.
Deadeye (1)
Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6)
Guidance Chips (0)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)
Total: 33
Edited by Force Majeurebanking on someone coming into your range 1 arc and staying there at PS6 is pretty brave, especially when your trick only works off a red move.
Kir Kanos. He really isnt that hot to begin with, but I always try to do some fancy flank stuff with him and he almost always dies without using his ability even once. 24-26 Points gone doing nothing at all.

This. If you want to improve as a pilot then practice flying low PS generics rather than high PS with reactionary post-maneuver repositioning.

Couldnt agree more. I really enjoy flying my quad Zeta speialists with LWF. Nothing fancy, just some fun flying.

Meh, x7 A Score to Settle isn't bad for 33 points. Just point him at the target with the highest hull on the board and have at it.

The trouble with that is that x7 AS2S Vessery is just better, as long as something in your list can spare an action to spot for him.

If we were talking TIE/D Vessery I'd agree, but we're not and at the 33 points level there's arguments in favour of both. Sure, Vessery enjoys double free mods, saving his focus for defense, but Maarek's ability to manipulate critical damage is still good. Not Kylo good, but good. Being able to potentially force through an opportune Blinded Pilot, Damaged Cockpit, Major Explosion or Direct Hit as appropriate can be a game changer.
Besides, I like the Lucky 7's Squadron.
Maarek Stele - TIE/x7, A Score to Settle - 33
Colonel Vessery - TIE/x7, Adaptability - 33
Countess Ryad - TIE/x7, Veteran Instincts - 33
Quinn Jast! I am just not so sold for the reload action. Just hard make it work. Love the idea but that's about it, playing it a lot too.
It is my main concern for Gun Boat also.
Valen Rudor. It kills me because I truly feel he should be good. It could always just be the way I'm playing him, but he constantly fails me.

He may never have conquered the tables as well as he seemed to deserve at first glance, but I still have a soft spot for N'dru, and really want to get his custom paint job on one of my ships some time. I'd then presumably have to come up with a list to fly him out of sheer principle again.
I have a similar affection for Tarn Mison, who once boasted of being durable... Ha, how times have changed.
And 4LOM is my favourite ship I've never managed to make useful. I love the ship model, used to love B-wings, and his stress-dumping ability should be great, buuuut... well, let's just say I really wish high-PS B-wings were a winning prospect ever, because let's face it, he's on an even more expensive, cannon-less B-wing.

Have you tried putting M9-G8 on him? It could really help him survive longer than he should.
