Crazy FAQ Theory
1 hour ago, the1hodgy said:So my current running theory is FFG are not publishing for any of the nefarious reason i've seen people say.
But rather after the Gunboat article; I think they have just forgot they haven't posted it yet. Which would make my day.
Anybody else have a crazy FFG theory they like to share? like they are all lizard people.
There are a lot of expansions coming out very soon. I am sure that the FAQ will be issued after all the expansions are issued and the needs of the game have been assessed.

There hasn't been an FAQ for wave 11 (or a meaningful one for the C-ROC) yet; I really hope they're not waiting til after wave 12/13...
Pooleman, am 100% sure you are right; but i would find it funny if they just realized one day like;
"Alex: did you click submit the other month on the X-Wing FAQ"
Alex "....."
I legitimately can't think of a reason they wouldn't have released a FAQ for as long as they have. Even if there are zero errata (and the Advanced SLAM reveal demonstrated that that won't be the case), there are card interactions that are super unclear right now, like how Jabba works, and whether you can use new Palpatine on the bonus dice from LWF after you've rolled the first two. That stuff at the very least needs formal clearing up, and probably lots more too.
The most generous guess I have is that they have significant changes in line with the Reddit leak, and they want the nationals season to be over before they release anything. Slightly less generous, but more likely, is that the FAQ just hasn't been finished, either because the leak slowed them down somehow, or because they've been busy on other games (Legion, L5R etc.), or just busy working to some specific deadline dictated by outside forces (movie release schedule etc.).
I honestly can't think of another reason at this point. But I will say that anyone who loses a game to a K Wing dropping a bomb on them using Advanced SLAM between the Gunboat article and when the FAQ finally releases is going to have a right to feel pretty salty about it.
My crazy theory is FFG themselves were behind the leak, with their intention being to see if the threat of nerf hammer would get people to stop playing the OP stuff at the time.
Then, they went with their tried - and - true strategy of "wait and see" and have since decided to rescind most if not all of the threatened changes.
We have seen (I remember a distinct example as far back as Rebel Aces) wording changes from cards spoiled in preview articles to the actual release, so I think they're just committing crazy hard via the Starwing AdvSLAM wording to sell the bluff of their fake FAQ leak! Nothing will change!
They gave the FAQ a SLAM action and it keeps on getting away.

Alex:" I emailed frank about it."
Frank:" I emailed max about it."
Max:" I left it for the intern."
Alex:" we have an intern?!"
intern:" I posted it on Reddit! That's where we share our news right?"
alex, frank, max: " were taking an early lunch today."
Maybe this is the big one--the MEGA FAQ--??
Included would be clarification on those outstanding card interactions, clarification on upcoming cards and interactions, corrections to OP and under-powered cards as well as:
- Floor Rules
- Epic Play Tournament info
- How to build your own missions/campaign modes ala Heroes of the Aturi Cluster
- An actual use for those proof of purchase tokens (as points you can use towards purchase of Epic ships, maybe?)

This makes too much sense

Gold star for you.
FFG released the Star Wing preview article to listen to all the cries for an FAQ. They are going to wait as long as possible so their gremlins can harvest as much tears as possible to release the saltiest FAQ to date...
Also, gives time for the forum warriors and armchair designers to theorycraft the FAQ leak, GFH, and Wave 12/13 ad nauseam and maybe find something they deem worthy of FAQing.
My theory is the reddit drop spilled the real at that time FAQ changes. FFG responds by changing the proposed FAQ and reducing the number of people who get to see it, to avoid a repeat. This both puts in a delay just in coming up with the new FAQ changes and with fewer people having access to them it means they need to test the changes longer. The reddit spoil was an overall negative effect on the game, being that the FAQ was delayed, the changes in all future FAQ's will actually get tested by fewer people, and future FAQ's will take longer to come out.
Probably the leak backlash. But to be fair that leak probably wasn't final. There will likely be an FAQ in January after the next wave(s) are released. Right before Worlds at Disneyland.
New FAQ will just nerf triple jumps, adv slam bombs and mindlink. The result: Nym will have even more free reign...
It has been released for months on a Need to Know Basis.
None of you need to know.

I mean, given that it's been playtested, this is almost certainly true. Assuming noone on the thread is a playtester, anyway.
Being a business owner, I cannot help but theorize —pending the new releases and older ships re-printings— they want to get some sales going before potentially making some products less than desirable. It’s no tin-foil hat thought, just a smart sales plan.
Do not try and release the errata, that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth...there is no errata. Then you'll see that it is not the errata that releases, it is only yourself

Eh, the problem is all the rules clarifications we're waiting for official word on to nail down. Those can be split from errata.
It's likely been delayed because of extended playtesting. I'm hopeful we'll see it shortly after Guns for Hire drops. I'm thinking it's going to be nerfpocalypse 2.0

This made me laugh very hard. I can imagine this was followed by;
Frank "There is only one way the community will forgive us"
Max & Frank "Release the Gunboats"
I think they had to add "When will this FAQ be released?" to the FAQ as it has been so frequently asked.
Then when the FAQ was submitted for review and approval, the process took so long the answer to "When will this FAQ be released?" was no longer accurate. So the answer was adjusted and FAQ resubmitted for review and the same thing happened.
Now the FAQ is trapped in an endless loop.
I wonder whether ffg has been infiltrated by the Sith.
Although, I realise that with Max coming on board the rule of two has been broken.
It makes sense that they are looking to build an army of force sensitive sith. Hear me out.
the faq is being hidden in order that many of us are FEARFUL that the game we love may be in danger. This has led to ANGER in many peoplemails, some have moved even further into HATE. I only hope that the Jedi can get hold of the faq plans before our hate leads to SUFFERING.
One question remains. Is Mickey Mouse the master or the apprentice?
