Hey everyone! I've recently started running a campaign with my Armada group. I was wondering if anyone had thought on how to used Hondo with the CC since he is a unique, but can be used for either faction. I had a thought about him popping up on an unoccupied planet at the start of the next strategy phase to be contested for or randomly pop on to an occupied planets before refitting fleets. Teams could decide who can use him. The fun part is when he is discarded, he's up for grabs again. I just want a way to allow everyone to use him. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Hondo and the Corellian Conflict
Lol
I think anyone else noticed about this.
Even when his effect would follow the lore even being in both fleets like the double face mother ****** he is, it seems weird as being an officer on two ships at the same time.
But he seems weird as an officer anyway so you could:
1. Consider his card just as a representation of a deal your commander have with him not as truly him. He probably escaped on a lifeboat as soon as the first shots started.
2. Extend the unique limitation to both sides. Be kind, roll a die, anything is good to decide who is takes him.
3. The 2 + the idea you said about discarding him means he is able again to everyone else. Problem here is that each player would be wasting points cause he would be an upgrade you must buy every time you used it. However he us not quite expensive but I can see this ending with the first player keeping him until the end battle just to avoid everyone else to take or using him only when he was really needed, being again a waste of points more frequently than not.
This open a new consideration. If he discarded means loosing him for the fleet but not for the campaign.... what about other uniques. You must declare him an exception of course. But he would look weird after Vader BT version who killed him to see him back. Another exception you should add to discard him definitely for the campaign, at least in this case.
What if you kill the ship where Hondo is but is not discarded yet? Clarify this too before starting.
There are just some ideas to think about however Hondo's effect works to both players so technically as long as he is on one fleet he is on both sides
We've made some major changes to the rules, but we just said whoever gets Hondo first has him. That being said, I don't see anyone fighting for space for him in their fleet. Bummer.
Thanks for the replies so far. I guess I'll talk with my group more on how we want to use him. Also I'm sure by the next wave questions on fleet commands may start popping up.
Grand admiral on both sides roll a dice, highest damage/score (depending on what dice u use) gets the chance to use him round 1 of the campaign, then hondo is avaliable to the other side round 2, etc.
Thats how we played it, but nobody wanted hondo so he wasnt used....

Maybe just nobody wanted to bother with Hondo because of the rule surrounding him?

That, and nobody bothers to use him anyway, even in the casual games we play every week lol
I’m so used to Garm-ing up that he has no place in my list builds unless I force it.

Another idea with lore.
Who pay more takes him with the minimum of 2 points.

Wait... what rule?
In our current CC league, we rule it's fine for each side to have one Hondo. If he's on both sides in the same battle, that's appropriate. No complaints.
Hondo is a friend to all!

The house rules people are arbitrarily applying to him in their cc adventures... If a card was given some sort of strange house ruling such as in the example above with Hondo, maybe that's enough to make people just throw up their arms and not want to deal with it altogether.
I mean what is wrong with having Hondo on both sides, even in the same battle? It's exactly what Hondo is all about!
I just recently had a thought that could be fun. Stick Hondo on a flotilla. Once destroyed the person who destroyed it places an objective token on the mat and play it as the VIP objective.
Only if I can instead shoot it like a fire lanes token... to be rid of him for good.
