Wrong dials assigned to ships.

By Stoneface, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Can someone point out where in the RRG, FAQ or Tournament Rules what happens if a the wrong dial is assigned to a ship and the assigned maneuver is not a legal maneuver for that ship?

This happened last night and I wasn't made aware of it until the match ended.

Sure thing:

Assigning Incorrect Ship Dials

If a player assigns the wrong ship dial to his ship (for example, assigning a B-wing dial to an X-wing), when he reveals the dial he must inform his opponent of the error. If the revealed maneuver is a legal maneuver for that ship (for example, the revealed B-wing dial shows a red [straight 4] maneuver, a maneuver whose bearing and speed also appears on the X-wing ship dial), it is executed with the proper difficulty of the maneuver (in this example, white). If the revealed maneuver is not a legal maneuver for that ship (for example, the B-wing dial shows a red [hard turn 1] maneuver, a maneuver that does not appear on the X-wing ship dial), the player’s opponent chooses which legal maneuver from that ship’s actual dial that ship will perform.

changed boxes to word description of maneuver

Things to note:

If the move appears on both dials, do maneuver as if it was on the correct dial (difficulty included)

If the move appears on both dials but is red on the real dial of the ship and the ship is stressed from memory the ship does a 2 straight white maneuver as per the FAQ update on page 3:

A stressed ship cannot execute red maneuvers or perform actions. If a stressed ship reveals a red maneuver (and cannot use a game effect to rotate its dial or execute a non-red maneuver instead), the owner moves the ship as if it were a white [straight 2] maneuver instead. The speed, bearing, and difficulty of this maneuver cannot be changed.

If the move does not appear on the real dial of the ship the opponent takes the real dial of the ship and chooses a valid maneuver (not a red on if stressed)

THANK YOU!

I'm assuming that the "legal maneuver" can include one that flies the ship off the board, correct?

Absolutely!!!

Many a ship have fled the field because of such an error.

Yes it can. But you pay the "Being a cock" tax for the privilege.

Not starting anything. I simply think that people who choose the move that flies the opponent off the board have a special place in **** reserved for them; alongside those who use their phones in cinemas, and those who can't merge when entering the highway.

EDIT: Really FFG? The home of the Devil (not New Jersey, the other one) is censored?

So is the city in Michigan, I think.

In casual play, it is kind of a harsh thing to do but in a competition, that's different. Would you let a guy put 4 focus tokens on the Moldy Crow because he forgot the last four rounds?

I agree with you; however, parking their ship on an asteroid is absolutely fair game :)

(I even insist that opponents check their dials to see if they have a move that keeps them on the table and let them change to it when they do fly off the table - but not go back a full round to change the previous turn's move - even though I also try my best to block a ship or ion it so it has to fly off. I try not to be a jerk, but forcing them off the table due to playing well is fun :) )

No, because I'd have reminded him in at least one of the previous turns!

Hm. Where the ex-mother-in-law goes to work and to conduct her business shouldn't be auto-censored by profanity rules. It's a legitimate place.

There's also a village in Austria with a name that's rather obscene to English speakers, but somehow I doubt that FFG's censors would care about that... and the best part is that someone named a helles beer after the place and authorities tried (and failed) to prevent the name from being used =).

I'm told the prononciation in Austria is FOO-king after the founder of the town or something like that. Everyone here can probably guess what the unfortunate (by English standards) spelling is.

I want to go there just so I can update my Facebook status as "Currently in ******* Austria"
