Top 5 games

By AldousSnow, in Star Wars: Legion

Just get get a little energy pumped back into these forums while we wait for some more Legion info, I thought I'd share a little about my favorite games. This is my all time favorite top 5 games to play at the table, across all genres.

5. Star Wars RPG. I cant pick a single system, as they all have ups and downs. But I've played through d6, Revised, Saga, and FFG. I love them all.

4. Forbidden Island/Forbidden Desert. These quick co-op games hit the table nearly every week as in between or warm up games while waiting for the rest of the gang.

3. X-Wing Miniatures Game. I started in around Wave 3, and it's still an immensely fun game. Cant say enough good things about it.

2. Risk: Legacy. If you haven't played it, play it. Ive been through 2 copies of the game and wouldn't hesitate to buy a third.

1. Stratego. This old school game just cant be beat. I prefer the older rules without the changes made a few years back.

Cosmic Encounter This is just fun to play, it is about the silly and not to be taken seriously.

Star Wars: Destiny Dice and Cards I am playing far too much and having a good time.

Star Wars: Rebellion I have played it a few times, and it is the great fun in having two asynchronous strategies in trying to win.

Star Wars: Armada Played a lot of this till burn out, this one I could see making a come back though.

Battletech I haven't played this for a long time but boy did we play it to death when we were playing it.

Flames of War Again until we burned out this was a weekly passion for my friends and I.

5) Dominion. It’s fun, easy to pick up, and it’s got great replayability

4) Shadowrun. Best **** setting of any game I’ve ever played. It’s just too cool.

3) Star Wars RPG...either FFG’s or Saga Edition. Best couple of RPGs I’ve ever played.

2) Dragonstrike. It’s this old TSR D&D style boardgame...it was my introduction to tabletop gaming.

1) X-Wing. Each wave it gets worse and worse, but I love it to death.

OT a little, but when you lot say the SW RPG, do you mean for example the FFG SW Age of Rebellion beginners game?

Thinking about getting this for Xmas for me and the wife to play.

5) Star Wars RPG - West End Games - this is what really got me into painting minatures and buliding tabletop scenery.

4) Star Wars X-Wing - got into this one very late and wondered why it is still called X-Wing since I see too many games without a single X-Wing on the board.

3) Star Wars Imperial Assault - this game truly got me back into the hobby and I have been able to create a lot of custom content for this game that has me ready to jump into Legion.

2) Star Wars Battlefront - EVERY version of this game has been worth playing and has always felt like it put you into the Star Wars universe.

1) Dungeons & Dragons - Without this game, most of the content on these lists would not exist. So we really should pay respect to the game that started it all.
