OS-1 and Unguided Rockets

By Celestial Lizards, in X-Wing

Expertise, APT, and Plasma would be my loadout but that's stupendously expensive. But still, the epitome of 'dodge this'.

Like others have said, both are mods, and as a rebel player I'm glad you can't have both :P Reloading kind of negates the usefulness of unguided rockets, other than the cost, on the gunboat. That being said, Stridan with systems officer and fleet officer would compliment 2 gunboats very well and would be a good match if you wanted to use UGRockets.

I really like Stridan in the support role, but I've found ways to fly him more attack-orientated while still using Systems Officer to great effect:

Stridan: Weapons Guidance, Recon Specialist, Wired.

Eventually I'll put on Advanced Optics, but for now I can't :(

yeah, but how are you going to mod it? PTL,markmanship and expertise raise the cost issues even further, and i wouldn't rely on naked reds anymore than naked green

Edit: the ept doesn't work that way.

and then you'd have to add aslam/lrs or risk not having the TL.

i'd be more inclined to take ion pulse to set up for the apt for next round. It still might work in a list, and it'll definitely make large bases at least *think* about having to take eu again to try and keep up/run properly or give nym pause before just charging in blind.

My reading is you have the enemy target locked to satisfy OS-1 and can fire Unguided Rockets if you have the focus token to satisfy Unguided Rockets, even while you have weapons disabled. You don't have to use either the target lock or the focus token while you attack.

true. the issue is having the action economy to have both the focus and tl at the same time, which is either very costly or needs to be given from an outside source (hux, jendon, fleet officer)

No idea if it will be competitive yet but this may actually put a hux batwing/shuttle on the table........

I don't know if it is competitive either, but you could have gotten the TL earlier and just hold it, while you zip around and use Advanced Slam to get a Focus token every turn. Come to think of it, the wording of Unguided Rockets actually prevents using that TL during your attack anyway, so as long as you aren't rotating targets you'll have your TL, and with the 2 ship meta its 50/50 any ship you go after will be the one you were holding the TL on :P .

I also find it interesting that the OS-1 title makes it so you can use Unguided Rockets to fire on a ship other than Biggs even when Biggs is in arc (assuming you have weapons disabled token), as normally with Unguided Rockets if Biggs was in arc you'd have to shoot Biggs.

It's this wording in the title that got me thinking that maybe this is a bit of a counter to the Funship lists going around atm.

Which means telegraphing a target.... not ideal
