Rebel Expansion Deck vs. Core Deck

By centralx, in Star Wars: Rebellion

I am curious how everyone is feeling about the expansion cards for the Rebels (non-leader cards)? I get that they help more with the diplomacy aspect and maybe I am just biased to the core cards, but I am just not feeling it.

Love to hear some thoughts from other folks on how to approach the Rebel Expansion deck vs. The Core.

I'm of the same opinion. The good stuff you gain (Reconnaissance, Behind Enemy Lines) doesn't make up for the good stuff you lose (Plant False Lead, Public Uprising, Incite Rebellion).

Another thing I noticed is that with all those recruit cards just become dead cards as well. Just not feeling it. I think I just played my last game with them and will try the core deck and see if my opinion changes.

Still looking for someone who has found some success and what was their strategy.

I've won a few times as Rebels in RotE; but this was with the Imperials using their new mission deck as well.

The Rebels rely on being a bit lucky with their objective draws I think, even more so in the expansion since you can't predict which ones you will draw. Losing the diplomacy missions really hurts here; having to transport units to the target system means sacrificing a Transport, assuming you have left one in your base.

I think the Rebels increasingly rely on their leader missions, plus the more familiar Build Alliance and Sabotage.

By turn 3 you should be aiming to get an average of 1-2 reputation per turn. If you can't plan for that, or the objective and mission decks aren't cooperating, you are very unlikely to win.

I loved behind enemy lines because it is so much better than hidden fleet. I also liked safe haven a lot. helped me pump out a fleet quick to take out the Deathstar. But I found the hit and run cards to be rather worthless because I had to roll dice and hope for damage to take out troops. Doing a mission that doesn't kill any imps was worthless. I think there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

I've thought about that too. but why not just put all the missions we like in there and play it like that? missions are essentially scenes in the narrative that becomes the game. why not just put all the good stuff in there. its not like the new deck is more balanced. its just different. I see no reason to not put behind enemy lines in there for example.

Rebel ROTE mission deck sucks, always play with the base mission deck.
