Hi There!

I'm Phoenix; long time lurker, first time poster.

I know the first post you are supposed to make is shock over the state of "Not available" showing on Star Wars Imperial Assault products on the Fantasy Flight Games website, but lurking has taught me how often that happens and to understand the reasoning for that situation. Instead, I'd just like to say 'hello' and contribute a bit to the forums as I'm finally joining the Imperial Assault community.

I owned the Imperial Assault Core Set for a few years but never went beyond reading the rulebooks due to lack of people to play with, weird work hours, access to expansions and Ally and Villain packs, and general life. As life changes, so have all these roadblocks to playing. Years ago I used to play/paint/teach Warhammer 40,000 and The Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game - eventually the teaching killed the hobby for me. When Fantasy Flight Games obtained the Star Wars license, I was very excited, having also come from a background of teaching/playing Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Miniatures Game. The X-Wing Miniatures Game was released with pre-painted miniatures and this just grabbed me from day one (no more painting!). But since then I have taken the plunge back into painting (after six years) as I want the Imperial Assault miniatures to look great on the beautiful cardboard tiles of the game, to really get a great Star Wars experience.

Welcome! IA is a good one- as a former LOTR fan as a kid, I find it to be extremely accessible. I've gotten almost all of my friends to try it at one point or another, many of which have gotten into campaigns with me.

Also, you must learn fast if you're aware enough to make the "Not Available" joke already

Welcome! And your comment about the "Not Available" status is awesome! Hopefully there's a good crowd to play with around where you are!

I'm always pleased to read from players that they are painting their minis - because that aspect of the hobby is as rewarding as playing to me, and makes playing the game even more rewarding. I'm looking forward to you posting some pictures of your painted minis.

I remember LOTR was great (I still have painted Uruk-Hai and Wood Elves, and their various heroes), but the attack-push-model-back followed by mostly needing 6s to cause a wound made some games go forever! Haha, yeah the 'Not Available' question seemed to come up on the forum a lot.

I've thrown together a fantastic rag-tag bunch of greasy Rebels that a ready to throw a spanner in the works of the Empire. Have a full five player weekend coming up.

I made a thread over in the painting section. Yeah, painting has really increased my interest for the game. Just gives the game a true 'finished' look about it.

How good is it when 'that day' is so close to the release of a new Imperial Assault expansion. Plus, Captain Terro complete my Jabba's Realm set.
