Best Gunboat Builds

I know some people posted some good ideas, and now I can't find it amongst the clutter.

I'm not necessarily looking for a squad list, just a nicely kitted ship.

Going guns: Rho + VI + XG1 + Mangler + Jammer + Adv Slam (30)

Pretty sure Nu's and Rho's are the stars of the pack

I want karsabi and vynder to work but they just seem a tad pricey in an imp list, unless you're going to pair them with RAClo

How many os-1, saturation, clustermissiles RhoBoats can I jam into a list? Is it 3? How many points do it have left?

not a list (as obviously it doesn't fit 100 points), but here are my builds

Vynder would be built with the PTL ASLAM OS-1 title, but I think he's just way too expensive at 38(!!!!!!!) points

Karsabi has linked because his ability takes care of Weapon Disabled tokens, so he doesn't need to care about the XG-1 benefit. You can fly him with two other Rhos built exactly the same as him in order to go all in on an imperial Alpha Strike

Karsabi and Rho get my vote for best pilots of the pack. I havn't seen PS 2 pilots do well at all in a dog's age

Cluster missiles have to miss with both attacks to get a single hit. You're much better off with concussions, or the like.

My own favorite: rho + gunboat + hlc + crackshot + linked batteries

Or, the "I may be PS4 but I will turn you to ash" build

Basically I just pictured it as 3 > Slam > Adv Slam for a TL > Fire > 3 > Slam > Adv Slam > Reload > Repeat

I was thinking mostly that on the 'Reload' turns you're trying to get as far away as possible, then turn back in on the 'Firing' turns.

5 ship Nu, 4 ship Nu, 3 ship Rho, and Gunboat Aces.

Karsabi with Wired, A-SLAM and your choice, Cannon title and Mangler/hlc (maybe linked for another reroll) or just some Missile or Torp with no titles. Not too expensive, but not a lot of green moves to get ride of that stress. Of course wired and linked with a Good Cannon won’t need focus/TL as much and no need to Reload. SLAM would be missed tho.

Gunboats are now the best HLC carrier.

  1. Captain Jonus -- Crackshot / Unguided Rockets / Lightweight Frame (27)
  2. Nu Squadron Pilot -- XG-1 / Heavy Laser Cannon (26)
  3. Nu Squadron Pilot -- XG-1 / Heavy Laser Cannon (26)
  4. Nu Squadron Pilot -- XG-1 / Flechette Cannon (21)

As a standalone ship to put into an Imperial list I like:

Missiles are awesome, but the OS-1 missile boat title is 2 points which really tempers my anticipation of those builds.

and we have a post that said Gunboats will make TIE Bombers useless. This might bring them to the meta.

Check the timing chart, clusters have anti-synergy with salvo.

Keep in mind UR will require both a lock and focus and they only salvo to one agility ships.

I wanted to try 3x Rho Squadron Pilot // XG-1 / HLC / Autoblasters. Have two leading with a chasing XG-1 and open fire on anything trying to close.

Action Economy at its best:

MV goes Slam, Reload, PTL TL/Focus + Stress

LK goes Slam, Focus + Stress

What's the general consensus on Lieutenant Karsabi and Advanced SLAM? Advanced SLAM reads " After performing a SLAM Action , if you did not overlap an obstacle or another ship, you may perform a free action on your action bar." while Lieutenant Karsabi reads " When you receive a weapons disabled token , if you are not stressed, you may receive 1 stress token to remove it." Wouldn't Karsabi's ability trigger before the free action provided from Advanced SLAM, meaning you can't get the free action due to the stress?
