Would Regular HK Assassin Droids be competitive if they had 6HP?

By Stompburger, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Or would they need more than that? I don't really play skirmish so I'm not sure. I'm just curious how narrow the gap is between them and the Elite Weequays.

Not much, they are pretty good actually, the hide and +2 is what makes the eWeequay better. Droids can actually self focus better than the eWeequay, and have better cards available, the eWeequay are just so efficient when focused

I played in a Vassal tournament with one deployment of rHKs. They suffer more from not having a SURGE for +2 DMG option. The images below show what the percent chances are for rHKs and eWeequays to do 3 or 4 damage.

What would be good is giving rHKs and eHKs a static +1 DMG. What would be better is +1 DMG, +1 Speed. What would be even better is +1 DMG, +1 Speed, and the eHKs' deployment cost and figure cost are each reduced by 1.

A static +1 DMG would be pretty powerful - but that would solidify their glass cannon role, and distinguish them from the Weequays (part of the strength of the Weequays seems to be their relative toughness for such a high-damage unit). +1 DMG +1 Speed might be okay, though that feels pretty close to OP (5 speed is very powerful on a lot of maps, I think). The cost reduction on the elites seems reasonable; they feel very overcosted for the minor upgrade you get over the regulars.

RHKs are still really good when compared to any figure but the eWeequays. They do not need a fix. If you already have 2 eWeequays, it's a legit option to add a unit of rHKs.

I always felt like that 1 more pt of health would make all the difference in the world, but I still would prefer a e-weequay group for 7pts versus an 8pt HK group even with an extra point of health. I find they just don't surge for enough on their own.

Idk I'd be real tempted to take the 3 dice attack(4 with focus) and two rerolls for a single extra point. They also have the great hunter trait and have the advantage of being able to take good shots round 1 without having to use an action to prowl like the eQuays do.

True, but I always find it a challenge to get them a good LOS shot early on. Also, an extra die often results (unless you get good re-rolls) in extra surges you can't use.
