Leia's TFA transport + TLJ ship

I was looking at these two ships:

Resistance Transport.

The Last jedi pod/thingy.

If these are the same ship, it could be the first small ship with the docking mechanism. Futhermore I now wish that the Phantom II did not have the coordinate action as it would have been very thematic to have Leias transport flying around coordinating.

So something like

Focus, TL
Tech, Crew, Crew

And you dock the small ship
2/2/3/4
Focus, TL, BR

Tech, Crew

A very slow dial, like a big B-wing. It's a shuttle after all. I can't see why rebels (or anyone) would want this. Unless its powercrept up, as usual.

I have not speculated in the design. The transport is meant to have a HLC and why not, its protecting royalty, sp either a native 4 red dice (theres your powercreep) or just a cannon slot. Maybe the small ship should not have any crewm basically just the pilot leaving. that or just 1 crew on each part as I fell 3 crew might be a bit much on a small ship?

Personally I would much rather have the Resistance transport than the Phantom II.

yeah, the ‘pod’ is the cockpit module from the new, mostly unseen B-wing mark 2. I suppose eventually we could get the little pod with the transport, like the Ghost box did. Hopefully just 40 bucks tho. Hopefully we eventually see the actual B-wings one day

Perhaps, the new b-wing is to be a variable geometry/workhorse craft? A combat chassis and a cargo chassis?

With the New Republic limiting its combat craft, having a combat pod, with a few weapons, ion engine and hyperdrive that could hook up to different modules, does make a bit of sense to me.

I know but at least that one is a good looking ship and fits perfectly within the realm of the "scumy" ships.

In the other hand The rebels/resistance had taken a wrong turn design wise in the new trilogy (aside fromt he x-wing).

Is a real pitty when I see the concepts they actually had and what they actually went with. See the 2 initial concepts from "the art of TFA", I especially like the first one:

Not just the rebels. I can't say I am happy for the TIE/SF or the TIE/FO (or even their transport. Just an ugly block. I'm happy its not in the game).

I guess the FO could be justified, its really just a re-hash of the LN, but the SF? I expected a bit different design, especially since its so different from most TIEs, it behaves more like an aggressor (in the lore) than anything else.

It's just all Starkiller base over again. Nothing new under the sun, visually. I want inspired ships.

It's underpowered and the one cool gimmick (0-speed K-turn) is pretty much useless in 90% of matches due to the telegraphing of it the turn before. Also it suffered from the same thing that the TIE Silencer, T-70 X-wing and TIE Striker suffered from: being rushed to release by Disney pressure before the design team had full knowledge of the ship's pilots/capabilities in the lore (K2SO was one of the main pilots of it in the movie)

I would be okay with FFG releasing a Most Wanted Styled box for Rebels/ Rogue One, With new cardboard for the U-wing, with a K2-SO4 pilot. updated X-wing pilots, x-wing fix. Repainted X-wing in the Saw's squadrons colours. More Tie Striker pilots and maybe a bomb slot for the striker, limited to pointcost 2 bombs or something similar. Etc.

Yeah I could see them releasing a Striker aces pack with a version of the following:

Heavy Frame (0 pts.)

Modification TIE Striker Only

Your upgrade bar gains the <crew> or <bomb> icon. You may not equip a <bomb> or <crew> upgrade worth more than 3 points

That way you could run Strikers as fast, light bomber/dogfighters but you would have to give up LWF so it wouldn't really be an auto-include, just a new way to fly them.

The U-wing on the other hand just needs K2S0 as a pilot and crew. Could also include Chirrut Imwe crew.

As far as a fix for how it flies I would also give it a special modification that interacted with it's swing wings.

Before you reveal a maneuver, you may flip over an equipped "Pivot Wing" card. That card may not be flipped again for the rest of the turn.

This allows you to pay one point to shift the timing of Pivot Wing to make it less predictable. You are still dropped to one agility for a turn right after you flip around through.

Just make the K2 crew fix the Pivot wing problem. Don’t eat up the mod slot! Or better yet make a new title that works better.

I think the mod slot is actually pretty worthless on a U-wing. I guess you could put Ion projector or anti-pursuit lasers on a low PS blocker but the unique pilots don't get high enough in PS to justify engine upgrade.

The crew slot on the other hand is probably one of the most valuable slots in the game (other than EPT). Losing a crew for a fix to one ship is a pretty bad trade. Also it would make K2S0 a U-wing only card in effect.

You could make K2 U-wing only, and make him add a crew slot for him self, so he does not take up a valuable seat. I don't really like that idea to much unless he would still have a snarky K2 ability on top of that, and even then it would be a shame to force every U-wing to fly around with him. I thing a Rebel ship should be able to perform without a rogue Imperial droid.

If people have seen the most recent episode of Rebels, it has a Partisan U-wing in it flown by...either Benthic Two-Tubes or the other one of the same species - as quite the lil' assault boat, doing nasty things to an (admittedly surprised) light cruiser.

Making K2-SO and Benthic PS8 and PS7 pilots (K2 as a stealth/survival and Benthic as 'aaaargh!' strafing run aggression) gives you three different ways to play elite U-wings; Cassian as the stress-munching support monster, K2 as a high PS, hard to hit dogfighter (ish. Really, really ish) and Benthic as a heavy gunship.
