Hey guys,

Will miniatures from the descent expansions look good side by side with Runewars minis? I know about the basing differences and can get them to fit correctly but I want to make sure they don't look bad side by side.

Specifically I am wondering about crusade of the forgotten.

Descent figures are slightly smaller in most cases than their Runewars counterparts.

They look pretty alright next to one another, though. In the official painting guide there is a guy who converted the vampire Kryndithul as a hero and he looked good enough that the community spent a while arguing whether he was an official Runewars figure or not.

I'd say they're very close and good enough. The Ardus mini in RW is the same one as the Ardus mini in Descent (except the base), so that should tell you something.

Not quite the same.

the Runewars sculpt of Ardus has broader antlers and is slightly taller.

It is the same pose. It is not the same mold.

Has anyone posted side by side comparisons?

I would’ve if I hadn’t cut my descent Ardus up for dressing.

But just to echo the other guys that have commented, yeah Descent figures are smaller.

It's also worth noting that the scale of Descent 2nd Edition miniatures has gradually crept up over the years (quality too, which is nice). Ardus Ix'Erebus is from one of the more recent expansions so he's larger and closer to Runewars TMG. Figures from the Core Set and the first few expansions are noticeably smaller.

I'm not familiar wjth descent, but if these are the products of quality increase, I'd have hated to see the old stuff ?. Cyclades anyone? (Those ones are IMO pretty bad, but boardgame minis generally are. Ours are acceptable.)

Does anyone have Mists of Bilehall? How do the reanimates compare? What about the Bone Horrors and broodwalkers compared to a carrion?

Reanimates are still smaller in scale. Ardus came out at the same time as mists and so you should see roughly the same scale as the photo earlier.

Broodwalkers are the same size as a Reanimate would be and so would be lacking in comparison to the lancer. Bone horror is the same.

Shambaling colossus (which I first was thingin about) is a 2x1 on the Descent scale, so about two reanimates in size.

If you want to try to fit runewars into descent, the figures bases do fit in the grid (minus the black base), though it does make it harder to see the terrian markers.
