shields, sensors, clothing and social cybernetics

By Seguleh, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi, 2 small questions about Starships and two about other stuff:

1. Do ships with sil4 and smaller just have front and rear shields? So just 5 and larger have sides by rules

2. What exactly does sensor range mean? It is listet on every starship but not explained in the section before (at least I couldn't find it), and it is mentioned by some starship attachments. (Nightshadow coating, whisperthrust engines) It is simply the indicator for the distane a starship is capable to detect another one? And is it easier to detect large starhsips? Or are just the sensors important?

3. Is there (in any ffg book or a webpage) more information about the clothing of star wars people? I would like to involve different styles for my politico.

4. Are there any... social cybernetics? There are a lot of cybernetics for fighting and hacking, are there any... pheromone glands, or just good old plastic/cosmetic surgery?

Thx guys!

1. Yes.

2. p. 227 EoE

3. AoR Desperate Allies Diplomat sourcebook.

4. Not that I'm aware of but you mention dandy houserule ideas.

4. There's the Appraiser's Eye (Fly Casual), but that only applies to Negotiation and Streetwise checks made to buy or sell items.

The Neural Recorder (Special Modifications) might be an interesting choice. You could use it as blackmail material or insurance, or you could allow an analyst to play back a conversation over and over to try to divine the other party's motives through small details like body language and tics.

Special Modifications also has rules for building custom implants, including an implant that gives one rank of a particular general skill; that could be a good way to build out some of the ideas you suggested.

There is the signature scent synthesizer from the Consular sourcebook, which can remove two setback from a Charm/ Coercion/ Negotiation check.
