So I got them and was just going to dremel the old ones flat and glue on Mel’s. But then I remembered that others have already done this, so what technique did y’all use? How well did it work? What would you have done differently to make it better/easier? Thanks in advance.

I used a sharp hobby knife to slice them off. Got to watch the details around the turrets otherwise you'll slice them off too.

Yep as @outerrimrebel said above, i just a Hobby knife and shaved the turrets away. Take your time and be careful of the bulkhead around them, but it's pretty easy.
