FFG has officially given us the saddest way to kill someone:

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

Someway, somehow, there will be a player who will lose a ship with 0-1 agility and one hull remaining because their opponent missed a shot with a Thread Tracer and triggered Saturation Fire on everyone within range 1 of the target. Possibly even more than one ship will be killed in a single attack!

Should this ever happen to me, it will immediately become my new favorite sad way to win a game. The previous winner was the time I forced a Console Fire and Stunned Pilot on a stressed Oicunn, then blocked him to death with a shuttle.

Nice. I can't wait to unlock that achievement

I still think ion off the board is the worst.

2 damage chances is twice as nice. And at 4 points whacks most anything. . .

I hate that chart.

Hmmmm ....
A U-Wing (Cassian)
Saturate + Munition Fail Safe + Accuracy Correctors + Gunner + Operational Specialist + Protons.

Green Dice are meaning less and less.

I now want to build an entire list around this gimmick...

Saturate, Accuracy Corrector, Gunner might be a niche use, giving you one Saturate and then a primary weapon attack. That's a lot of points invested to do less than a bomblet though.

It's also only possible on a B Wing with /e2, given that EPT, System, Crew and ordnance slots don't collocate anywhere else.

It's so demoralizing.

And Cassian on the U-Wing. Plus munition failsafe. And Operational Specialist (Or Captain Rex)

Black Sun Ace, Vaksai, Saturation, Tracers. 23 pts. Voila.

Worst one I saw was a ship running over it’s own bomb to trigger Sabine on a 1 health Soontir.

More tabletop games should have achievements! Maybe the folks over at BoargGameGeek could implement achievements and achievement-tracking for tabletop games!

(Obviously, there wouldn't really be any way to stop someone from just claiming all the achievements without actually performing them if they so chose, but for those interested, it could be a fun way to think of new things to try in games.)

Boshek off the board is worse than ion off.

That sounds like a sad way to die, but a very satisfying way to kill.

One of my favourite tricks for this EPT will be on my Vaksai Cartel Marauders.

This, Cruise Missile, Munitions Failsafe.

I do a one manoeuvre, fire a 2 die Missile. Use my TL to re-roll to make sure I miss, then roll for damage on all 3/4 FSR ships (Rex’s agility keeps him safe). I also keep my Missile thanks to Failsafe. Great option for Alpha Strike or splash damage depending on what you face.

True. For some reason I'd forgotten the U has a torp slot.

but Boshek on the board is worse with ion on the board

(because they won't have a dial to boshek)

Yeah but I think the idea is to kill a ship with something that does no damage. It would be like killing a ship with Ion Bombs. or Bo Shek. No damage but it works. It is like getting away with murder.

Cluster actually has LESS chance to trigger Saturation than others. It would only trigger if BOTH cluster shots miss, same as gunner, etc.

Love this upgrade. Finally, we can get rid of those stupid aces that have been clogging the tables for the past year...

I give you: the Rebel Flak Cannon

Nera Dantels (26)
Saturation Salvo (1)
Accuracy Corrector (3)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
Munitions Failsafe (1)

Total: 35

Since I botched my reading earlier, Salvo requires the target to have an agility cost lower than the price of your ordnance. This Nera build will effectively let you spam torpedoes at anyone with 3 agility or less that you can get a TL on, guarantee a miss with Accuracy Corrector and force everyone within range 1 to roll for damage. Then repeat for as long as they aren't in R1. You can downgrade to Plasmas or Flechette Torpedoes as desired, if you don't need to hit AG3.

Have I mentioned I hate that timing chart.

For me, this is one of those counter-intuitibe things. . .the card says it's 2 attacks. But not really. . .

It does lead to some weird interactions like that, but I prefer having the timing chart to not having it.

It would be fun to have achievements at sanctioned events. I would totally go to a tournament with no intention of winning but to stick a hard achievement against a smug netlister. That is victory baby they can have the swag and bragging rights of championship. I want the war story and crotchity old man back in my day speach!
