Moving from zone to zone

By BrooklynMike, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

Am I doing this right?

My opponent declares his attack on my Kingdom

In response, during the action step, I play Forced March and move a unit from my Quest zone to my Kingdom

Then in the Declare Defenders step I declare that unit the defender.

Is that correct? if so, I'm starting to understand the strength of the Empire. Take a unit with Counterstrke 4, put it in your Kingdom or Quest zone to pump up resources. Then, when you need it, use one of the many mobiliization cards at the Empire's disposal to move it to defend.

As I understand it yep that's correct. You have a chance to react to his announcing attack step. You can play Tactics cards as reactions during your opponents actions. Then you continue as normal to assign it as a defender (if you want).

However, Forced March is "play during your turn", so can't use it in the manner you wrote.

? If I'm defending, that would be during my turn. What I can imagine is having a Greatsword in a zone, it gets attacked. I move in a few units with counterstrike, pumping up the Greatsword and also getting first crack at the attackers through counterstrike. I'm seeing a lot of potential in the Empire deck now.

Oh. Didn't have a copy of the card to look at. The other guy is right. During your turn doesn't include the declare defenders step or anything like that. Your turn is when you are doing your kingdom phase and other phases. You have the opportunity to play stuff during your opponents turn, but just because you have the opportunity to play doesn't make it your turn.

As has already been said, it is only your turn if you are the active player, (IOW you are moving between your various phases rather than reacting your opponent doing so). FM can only be played on your turn.... but you do have the right of it when it comes to Empire and their awesomeness, the ability shift around units for attack and defense, even if it not using FM is potent. I expect another non unit card to allow for movement to be coming out sometime in the near future, hopefully a support attachment which lets you move the attached unit during your opponents turn in some fashion.

Apologies, your comments finally penetrated my dense skull. However, as noted, the Empire has a tactical flexibility that makes for interesting play. As I play other races I find other similar advantages and I continue to be impressed with the game.
