Indiscriminate Devastation GUNBOAT

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing

Well look like everybody is super happy because so much topics ! :P

EIGHTEEN POINTS

Did you see advanced slam? Action bar only.

and yeah, I want a gunboat

Saturation Salvo is a horribly designed card. I’m not sure exactly what even does. It will take me a few minutes to read through that wall of text.

I think we found the star of the expac

Essentially, if your munitions cost more than 2 points, everything within range 1 of a missed munitions shot rolls an attack die and suffers the results...

At last, we can go to tournaments without fear of swarms!

But depends on the opponents agility value and you missing

This is your Dash Rendar of the set

Crackshot (22), cannon Title (23), hlc (30), linked (32) and LRS for 32 points total

your new DEADEYE scout 2.0 (except not really because nothing will ever be that broken again... hopefully)

being a full THREE points down from the ps 5 is crazy, gotta say

also, that dial SCREAMS adv SLAM ptl. Two green banks into any turn/bank/straight gives you some great flexiblity. Lack of K bites, though

Os-1 means you have an excuse to put your missile boat proxies on the table with a straight face. It's got SLAM and fires missiles with the primary disabled. Can't get more direct than that.

The art for linked batteries looks dumb, but it's exactly what Heras being did in rebels, so there's precedence?

Sure, a kwing dial is made with slam in mind, but kwings have turrets. Here's hoping the gunboat dial can still support decent handling on this thing.

I'm optimistic. 18pts means you can fly five with 10pts of upgrades. I'll be taking a full flight group of four.

I'm ready to press space bar to confirm my request for reinforcements.

At 1 point that seems tempting - but then again, you don't want to miss your shots.

I'm not saying the card is bad or good, but the text and conditions could had been way shorter and less confusing to a player. The card seems like its a fan made one.

Mistake in article: Arc Caster is Scum and Rebel Only FFG come on guys.

Gunboat in all it's wonderful glory...

I might have to enlist in the Imperial Navy!

I'm excited by that OS1 config for sure, though the stress control cannon unit is cool too.

This is the biggie. Your opponent could choose to just eat the hit, which would negate the splash. It's also a "Must" effect, so you won't want it triggering while your own ships are at range 1 of the target. Might have some use against Fairship Rebels.

Counterpoint: if you miss your shot, this triggers against everyone at range 1 of the target. And since the targeted ship is always at R1 of itself, you this means you always have at least a 50% chance to deal damage so long as your ordnance cost is equal or higher than their agility.

I'm thinking of flying a single TIE of some kind (designated Alpha 1), and then calling in two Assault Gunboats from Flight Group Rho as reinforcements against Rebel, Scum, and traitors!

Okay, does this work:

1) SLAM

2) Advanced SLAM to reload.

3) PTL to Target Lock.

Then fire ordinance with OS-1 title.

"You will be flying an assault gunboat, designated mu 1. You will have two wingmen. Your craft has been armed with the standard load of 8 concussion missiles."

Does anyone know how the Reload action works? I didn't seem to come across it in the article.

And the Jamming Beam too.

They mentioned it in the original announcement article that came out a while back.

So, Linked Battery. 2 points for a single offensive reroll when attacking with primary or cannon. Limited, and Small Ship Only.

I'm not sure who would even want this thing other than Starwing pilots.

Small Ship Only makes little sense. I guess they don't want Firesprays or YT-2400s running around with this thing?

On the small-ship count, it's not worth paying 4 points to give a single reroll to a Scyk's primary, and Defenders are always going to prefer the TIE/D title if they're using their cannon slot. You might have a case for B-Wings, since they can use Collision Detector in their system slot and would always get a single reroll on their primary. Not sure if that build is worth 24 points, though.

It'd be broken AF on the IG-2000s

Whoever posted to SWG Discord that the article was up... thanks! Made my phone buzz and here I am excitedly reading.

Small Ship on Linked is probably mostly for Aggressors. You'd be able to get action-free rerolls without spending your Sensor slot on FCS. It's a shame, since it would have been fun, since Advanced Sensors is awesome.

My immediate first build: 4x Nu with XG-1, Flechette Cannon, Advanced Slam, and Linked Batteries. 4 of them at 25 points each. You can Slam, Focus, and still have rerolls with a "three" attack dice ship. I think it'd move in interesting ways, and in the hands of someone skilled at flying low PS ships, it could be strong. Damage output might be too low, however.
