From the Land of the Punisher...SWGB

By GILLIES291, in X-Wing

So for those who have played the old Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds game for PC, seeing the Punisher make it into X-wing may have tugged the same heart strings as it did for me from that game/era. There are actually a lot of different ships unique to that game that could make their way over to X-Wing and here are a few ideas:

Imperial Star Cruiser: could be a large ship/Huge ship destroyer with one powerful 6 dice attack but no/minimal emplacements.

Aces pack for the Y-Wing/X-Wing

Rebel Light/Heavy Y-Wing:

Dual Title Card

Light Y-Wing

Your ship loses both torpedo slots but gains the Boost action to its Action Bar

Cost-2

Heavy Y-Wing

Your ship gains an EPT and the Reload Action to its Action Bar

Cost 1

Advanced X-Wing

You may equip up to two Modificafions, reduce the cost of each by 1. Whenever a friendly ship at range 1 takes Damage, assign a stress token to your ship.

Cost -2

Naboo Starfighter/Bomber Pack

Been said before but Leia and Shara could pilot it. As well as have the Naboo bomber.

Reprogrammed Vulture Droid/Bomber

Super cheap swarm ship that you add modificafions to increase pilot skill level/different weapons configurations.

But just leave the atrocities and abominations that were all of the gungan/Wookie ships out of the game. Hahaha

Careful with what you wish:

Imperial Star Cruiser:

Rebel Light Corvette:

Naboo Royal Cruiser:

It's not from SWGB, but I'm still holding out hope for a Marauder Corvette, personally.

The light corvette isn’t awful.

The other 2 look like they are closer to something you’d see in Space Balls than Star Wars though.

I think the Light Y-Wing card is out of the spirit of the original ship. I certainly wouldn't go this route. Also, the Y-Wing isn't usually used as a torpedo platform, or even an ordinance platform now, it's really just a turret platform. This should be 0 cost, or you could work it in as a Y-Wing only torpedo upgrade, which we already have with Bomb Loadout.

The Heavy Y-Wing I don't mind, just a revamp of the title and probably drop the EPT. I know everyone wants EPTs on Dutch and Horton Salm, but I don't think giving EPTs to Gold and Gray Squadron Pilots as well is the right way to go about it.

Advanced X-Wing title is similar to a title card I made. You could probably even leave off the second part and make it cost 0 for a reasonably balanced card. This style of upgrade really makes Wedge happy. It's also similar to Vaksai, so it really follows the framing for a fix that FFG has already used, good job. [sincerity]

Also, most of the time I think it's wise to not have negatively costed Titles. Things get a little out of hand with them. Chardaan Refit and the x7 titles are good and pretty balancing to the game. Most of the time, the costs are really quite good, though the X-Wing is a couple of points high now, but the Advanced X Wing title really helps it out.

Overall, good job, though. I spend quite a bit of time with the people I play with trying to balance out ships and we've added quite a few custom pilots and fixes where they are needed.
