The biggest issue I have personally is the way the panels are curved. There's only been a single ship with curved panels in the history of TIEs that I know of - the TAP. And even that didn't have that much curve. It just doesn't fit the TIE aesthetic.

A ping pong ball between 2 slices of bread fits the TIE aesthetic. . .

TIE fighters do tend to bounce off things and are then considered toast.

Larger wings would be Sorta like the arc if the sfoils were wings (and larger)

Ping pong ball? Why not use a meatball and make that thing edible?

All white. The red sauce scares off new recruits.

TFA awakens had really cool concepts for TIEs in the early stages (before they went the ANH rehearsal way). Similar to this design but better IMO. I have the art book from the movie and it triggers me so much when I see what could have been some of the ships and what ended up being.
