I play a little on Vassal. Less so now that our local scene is more active on the table.

I play on Vassal, more so now than ever as I try to qualify for the vassal world cup by playing 6 games, and have participated in the various tourneys put up by GK, and am participating in the Perdants tourney.

No never. I tried once but was too stupid for it.

Yes. A lot. And I can only recommend it. For five irrefutable reasons:

There is a hellish lot of excellent players - players increcebly better than me that I learned so much by playing against them which I wouldn't have achieved, if I had played merely against local chaps.
I can play many, many more game than I would have otherwise been able to.
You can play even stupid fleets you have otherwise not the plastic for.
The community there is awesome.
The community there is awesome.

One could even make in addition the point that the community there is awesome. And one could say that the community... Well, I think I have said 'nough!

Yes. Most of my matches happen there, cause my gaming buddy lives too far out to see him regularly and I find it hard to connect to the local community.

I've downloaded it, and tried to learn, but... I need some guidance. Unfortunately I can't seem to time things out with the guys I know who play there.

I could try teaching you. . . what are good times for you? I'm in the BST time zone, and usually am available from 7PM on excepting Saturdays, when I am only free before that time. That would be roughly 1PM CST, I think, if that helps.

I tried the vassal module. I could've get my head around the interface. I much prefer the tabletop simulator mod, even though it required me buying TTS (It was a very good investment and I end up playing and protoyping all sorts of games with it).

I keep saying that I'm gonna try it but still haven't. I'll definitely be asking for guidance when I do. The curse of technological incompetence and all that.

I picked up Vassal pretty quickly. Some of the hot keys are crazy (ctrl-alt-shift-H) but you don't have to use them and the more common functions have easy to learn hot keys. All I did was Watch Green Knights Vassal tutorials on YouTube and I had all the info I needed.

I had a really bad experience with TTS trying to play Destiny, I'm sure Armada is set up differently but Vassal is pretty easy to grasp and doesn't need as much video power.

It does. Check the Vassal thread. There was a discussion recently about getting it to work.
