OK, I have no hard evidence to back this up, just a lot of theorizing because I'm at work with nothing to do. You've probably heard the rumors that FFG is doing a new edition of DungeonQuest. It's not official, but there's enough talk that it kinda sounds like this is the case. When I first heard of this, I was surprised because so many more people had been clamoring for a Warhammer Quest remake. It makes more sense to do WHQ, right? I mean, the Warhammer brand is getting very well known with video games and what not. Anyways, I remembered talking to the owner of a game store who said that Games Workshop couldn't do a WHQ remake because the rights to the game system were owned by another company (GW had apparently lost those rights sometime in the 90's). Since DungeonQuest was originally published by a swedish company (Brio) and licensed out to GW in the 80's, it could be the forerunner to WHQ. And since FFG has a deal with GW and (allegedly) Brio, could they really be doing a new edition of WHQ instead of DQ?
Could the new DungeonQuest Actually be a Remake of Warhammer Quest?
I would think that WHQ would be too similar to Descent, whereas DQ is just a light dungeon crawl and isn't the same sorta experience.

Yeah but the Warhammer world is so rich and the license would attract tons! I would buy immediately the Warhammer Quest!
I must admit that I'd love a remake of Warhammer Quest, I've recently got the kids here into playing it with my old copy and they're loving it.
As for the license issues, I thought that the problems related to HeroQuest rather than Warhammer Quest. HeroQuest was done in collaboration with MB games, but Warhammer Quest is purely Games Workshop as far as I know. The big stumbling block has been the large number of minatures in it as far as I've been aware. Though they've got a lot better at compressing plastic sprues since the old days.

But from what I've heard, the new FFG Dungeonquest is only using the mechanics of the original, and placing it in the Descent/Runebound setting. Just like the plan is to utilize the AH Dune mechanics in the Twillight Imperium universe. So it doesn't sound promising for fans of the Warhammer theme. But I believe the mechanics were made by a company called Brio, and Games Workshop pasted their theme onto the original, so if you just enjoyed the game play, this new edition should make you happy.
However, I already have one friend, who claims Dungeonquest is one of his favorite all time games, who will not buy the new issue because he absolutely hates the Terrinoth setting, especially the art.
