Can't figure out a good Rebel Wingman

By AngryAlbatross, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I need help finding a good wingman for this Ghost build. I love the Ghost setup and don't want to change it, just need something good for the other 34 points. I tried Jaketensitiy but he got one shotted by a Miranda homing missile today. Restore my faith in the rebel cause!

Chopper - 48
-FCS, Synced Turret, Weapons Engineer, Tactician, Ghost
Zeb - 18
-Phantom

Chewie? You could build a chewie for 52 points

ive been thinking about trying this:

Big pancakes (99)

•Chewbacca (53) - YT-1300
Veteran Instincts (1), Rey (2), •C-3PO (3), •Millennium Falcon (1), Engine Upgrade (4)

Lothal Rebel (46) - VCX-100
Fire Control System (2), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Hera Syndulla (1), Ezra Bridger (3)

Wait. I didn’t see that you had the shuttle. Sorry about that.

biggs?

Best 52 points ever is Chewie with predator, Gunner and Captain Rex.

For 34 points, Lowhhrick. Maybe Rey, C-3PO, and Draw Their Fire, since Ghost crits can be nasty. Maybe Tactician, Breach Specialist, and Predator, to ramp up stress mechanics.

I'd consider a switch to Ion Cannon Turret. In the range 1-2 bubble, Ion might be better than the extra damage of Synced Turret. And with the Phantom title, you'd be able to double-tap Ions, so you'd be able to ionize large base ships in a single round. Engine Upgrade might be handy to get/stay behind some folks, and then just abuse Ion all day. Rey would be a great crew instead of Weapons Engineer, if you don't run her on a Lowhhrick. Yeah, I like that build; heavy stress and ion control.

  • Lowhhrick (Predator, Tactician, Breach Specialist) - 34
  • Chopper (FCS, Ion Cannon Turret, Rey, Tactician, Ghost) - 48
  • Zeb - 18

Biggs isn't bad, but then I'd probably look to a more traditional Kanan/Biggs list, with crew like Rey, Finn, or Recon Specialist, and Twin Laser Turret.

Yea I would prefer not to run Biggs since I really need this Ghost to get in close and knife fight. Biggs just can't keep up.

I have tried the double tap Ion and it is my second choice (I like it with Ezra/Hera crew) but I think the Synced turret is just better overall in this meta for the points. With Synced I can ignore an enemy Biggs, and get to push extra damage thru on low agility ships.

Nien Nunb (29)
Adaptability (0)
R3-A2 (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Add more stress to the list, and shore up your weakness which is probably TLT by getting some autothrusters in the list. Adapting to 8 puts him at least above Dash and same as Miranda.

------------

Lowhhrick (28)
Predator (3)
Breach Specialist (1)
Rey (2)

A tanky SOB that also helps Chops. Predator Rey makes him hit hard and earn his keep, especially if he ends up as endgame ship.

-------------

Warden Squadron Pilot (23)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Sabine Wren (2)
Bomblet Generator (3)
Long-Range Scanners (0)

Add some TLT to the list, and BOMBS! Nym and Miranda hate TLTs with a passion. Bombs keep aces from chasing you down. Nice 34pt ship if I do say so myself. Can swap bombs and sabine for plasma and rey for a little alpha strike as well.

-------------

Norra Wexley (29)
Push the Limit (3)
"Chopper" (0)
BB-8 (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

A poor mans dancing Norra. Good for TL and focus and some punch.

Braylen stressbot is 31 points. If they focus on the ghost you shut them down with stress. If they focus on Braylen the ghost beats them up. Leaves you a few points to add something to the shuttle if you want.

•Braylen Stramm (31) - ARC-170
Tactician (2), •R3-A2 (2), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

Ten Numb with Calculation maybe

Or Wulfwarro

Thanks for the ideas, I think as @wurms suggested I need something that can handle TLT shots.
Do you guys think its better to double down on high health? (With a Norra or Braylen build)
Or get some sort of autothruster ace that can dodge the TLT?

intensity Jake maybe?

Yea I keep thinking I should try him again. I flew him against Miranda/Dash a few days ago and he got vaporized in the first round by a super homing missile. I probably should have just flown him better though. The problem I have with him is he needs predator or PTl to get damage thru, and without VI he can't keep up with Dash :(
Maybe a simple Tycho?

A-wings are where it's at. just take Auto-Thrusters with all the turrets...

A wicked fun Tycho is PTL and Rage (and Autothrusters, of course). Rerolls, focus, and another action on top of that. Maybe fill the missile slot (Cruise are cheapest, PRockets are classic and easy, Concussion would be wicked consistent).

This is a set up I love for lowhhrick that I use in one of my squads.

•Lowhhrick (30) - Auzituck Gunship
Selflessness (1), Wookiee Commandos (1)

(And yes I do have lots of upgrades its just I love this set up)
