Kylo Ren Question: Upsilon Shuttle

By eagletsi111, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So I checked the QA Thread and no one has stated anything to answer this.

I was playing against kylo on Vassal. He had the Kylo Shuttle and so did I, Mine had Determination. Any who.

Kylo Rens shuttle states: The first time you are hit by an Attack each round, assigne the "Ill show you the dark side condition card to the attacker" This is a Must, not a may. So I planned my turn and waited to shoot his shuttle with my ps 1 tie.

He assigned a Kylo Token to my tie and picked a blinded pilot from my deck.

Next turn when I shot his Shuttle he picked up the Kylo token and moved it to my Vader. Hold on a second I said:

The Condition States:

When this card is assigned, if it is not already in play , the player who assigned it searches the Damage deck for 1 Damage card with the Pilot trait and may place it faceup on this card. Then shuffle the damage deck.

When you suffer critical damage during an attack, you are instead dealt the chosen faceup Damage card.

When there is no Damage card on this card, remove it.

His Condition is already in play on my Tie, So he cannot place it on my vader, correct? He was upset, because once he put it on my tie, I ran my tie in to a corner and pretty kept him for Kyloing the rest of the game.

I played this correctly right? he insisted that it bounced to vader, but the card was already in play.

Thanks,

Your opponent was correct. The condition can only be assigned to one ship at a time since it is a unique condition, but it can absolutely be moved from one ship to another. If the condition is already in play, then the player who assigned it doesn't search the damage deck for a card since there is already a damage card assigned to the condition, but that does not prevent the condition from being assigned to a different ship.

Oh. Cool. Thanks.

I had someone do this to me with My Kylo a few weeks ago. Good to Know! So every time you got shot it moves, which means you must trigger it on the turn your activate on if you it will move on the next turn.

Kylo Ren pilot ability (underline for emphasis):

The first time you are hit by an attack each round , assign the "I'll Show You The Dark Side" condition card to the attacker.

The condition is always moved to the first ship to hit it each round. The thing that does not change if it's already in play is the damage card assigned to the condition.

Oh. Got it, so the same Damage card is used no matter which target it moves too.

Thanks,

Yup. Kylo (crew or pilot) moves the same damage card around between ships if the condition is already in play. It's only if it's NOT in play that you get to pick a new one.

What happens if the ship it's assigned to dies before it triggers... is unclear.

I would just assume the condition lingers, like other things in the game. So even with Kylo dead, his condition could still affect the target ship. Just like with Astro and other abilities in the game that stay after the pilot is dead.

That would be my best guess, yes. The condition reference card doesn't specify that they go out of play when the ship they're assigned to dies, so they don't.

I think that should be ruled the other way. If a ship is destroyed and taken out of the game then anything assigned to that attacker is out of the game as well.

It should probably be FAQed. But at this point there are WAY bigger concerns.
