Missing figure

By Mind Robber, in Talisman

Received the game today but dissapointingly no Sorceress figure was in the box though i did get an additional monk. Ive had no reply as yet from the gameshop, would it be best to deal directly with ffg as theyre would have any spare bits?

Apart from that the game looks good, was a little surprised at the smallness of the cards but thats no big deal. Shame the breakage of weapons and armour wasnt adopted from 3rd edition, have to house rule that one as i thought it was one of the better rules of that edition.

I'd contact FFG. They will be able to ship one to you ASAP. Your store probably has to call FFG any way. Plus FFG may toss something cool in.

I'm glad you mentioned this - I hadn't checked my figures yet. I'm missing the Priest, but have an extra eight sided toad.

I never played 3rd, so I don't know this rule. Can you re-cap how it works. (Having some experience in medieval weaponry, I'd find it suspicous anyway, since steel weapons do not break that easily, but it still might be interesting as an option.)

And are the cards really smaller than in standard 4th edition?

The breakage of weapons and armour was included in the card text in 3rd Edition -

As for the comparritive sizes of cards, I have yet to take my own shots as yet, but I will be doing a small feature on the differences as I did withe the 4th Edition.

For now, the cards are slightly smaller than those from the BI edition, and are exactly the same size as those used in the 3rd edition of the game.

Check out a nice "What's in the box" review over at BGG from ilikesanta - he's made a very nice job of it!

Ive messaged ffg, hope they can help.

Though it might not be exactly relistic i like the breakage of weapons and armour (on a roll of a 1 when used) mainly because it adds abit more value to gold as you had to visit the shops more frequently to purchase the items that broke, plus the slight tactical decision in what combat to use them in (do i risk using the sword against the strength 1 wolf or save it just incase it breaks).

I am also missing the fact that the weapons cannot break in 4th edition...

And that is not the only thing what i am missing... sad.gif enfadado.gif

Anyway, about the missing figure. When i bought my game, i discovered that i have a double minstrel. I went back to the shop, and switch it for another one.

Actually i have buy 2 talisman revised editions lol ( call me crazy;) And in the second game, there was another double figure ! enfadado.gif

Weapon breakage.

There is a balance between 3rd and 4th where this is concerned. In edition 3, the weapons broke but they were much more common, and the fact that half the characters STARTED the game with one. If you didnt start with a spell, you got something from the purchase deck. Also in third edition, you COULD use multiple pieces of armour to try and save a life, just not the exact type. You could roll for your helmet, then your shield, then you armour. (and on the down side, break all 3)

In 4th the weapons do not break, but very few start with any. They are harder to come by, and I think they are more expensive, but I would have to check on that.

Hi Hallowknight.

I did not know that, So you may use every armor you have in third edition to save your life?

We have played all the time the rules from the second edition that you may only use one type of armor...

I must say that nothing stand in the rules about armour. It's actually a short manual.

Lol, must be global warming or something, but from up here in Finland, North Pole is still North, not South where Poland lies lengua.gif .
