Lore card alongside Command card order?

By Nematode, in Battlelore

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere before, but I have been unable to find it at the moment.

When a lore card specified as "play alongside your command card" is played, which must be done first:

1) Order units as per command card.

2) Resolve the lore card.

In this particular instance, a Forest Frenzy was played alongside a command card and the player wants to see what casualties are caused before ordering his units. Of course the recipiant of the Forest Frenzy thinks that orders must be issued before the casualties are resolved....... Can't find anything in the rules to support either player explicitly. Which takes precidence?

I don't think it is in the rules explicitly, but I do recall it being discussed on the old DoW forums. I've always played that any action on a lore card played during the command phase is resolved during the command phase - so certainly acceptable to roll for Forest Frenzy before issuing the orders.

In fact, looking at the online rules, I noticed that they added a section to the lore cards rules (or I just never noticed it before...) "Orders Phase" - saying that future lore cards will have affect during that part of the turn, further indicating that all cards played during the command phase (e.g. Hills Rumble, Fireball, etc.) are resolved before orders are issued.

That sounds like a very fair ruling. Thanks much for the very timely response.

It's actually in the Battlelore rules.

page 50.

orders phase......... the unit(s) activated activated by the lore card must be ordered before any units ordered by the command card.Unless specified otherwise, the action described on the lore card must be carried out in its entirety......, before proceeding to the play of the regular command card.
