Not on the boat yet... bad news for Christman

By Hrathen, in Star Wars: Legion

Legion is still at the printers. If they are going to get here any time before Christmas they are going to need to get it on the boat soon. It usually takes 4-8 weeks on the boat and then 2 more weeks shipping to retailers. We are pushing up against that window right now.

I want my Legion

Its not going to be here by Christmas. It’s scheduled for 1st quater 2018.

Plus it will most likely get delayed like Armada's first waves did due to unforeseen circumstances like a chinese port exploding or a US union strike.

That was a lockout, not a strike.

It has been made pretty clear that it is not coming it this year. They are holding there core set for wave 1.

Yup would have absolutely loved it for Xmas (a week off work, beers and chilling at home with Legion to put together....) but dont think there is any chance of it.

Christman will be disappointed on Christmas.

Still Q1 was the window given in the product announcement.

I would expect legion to be on shelves between February and March.

But what about Christmas Miracles?

Well since they have said q1 basically this whole time there wasn't ever any chance of it :)

In one of his 1st interviews on the subject alex mentioned "aiming" for q4 this year, but has stated several since that it's pushed back as well as the product page stating as much.

Good. I have a houseful of kids to buy for before going plasticrack on my own hobbies

Yeah he changed his statement the very next day, so basically this whole time ;)

What? Santa doesn't bring them presents? Wait a minute... is ... is.... oh dear god, no....

I’m hoping for early January as I’ll have 12 days off work to recover from surgery and nothing other than painting my Legion sounds like a better use of that time.

Well seeing as how SWIA Heart of the Empire took so long to be announced and then actually make it to shelves, I wouldn't hold my breath on a definitive time frame.

The closest gaming shop in my area had posted release dates for Heart of the Empire for August, September and finally October. When asking them why the constant changes they stated that these were the dates they were given and that they were constantly being changed by the supplier. I know that circumstances beyond their control can happen and inevitably delay product. HotE was "On the Boat" for 3 months. I figured either the boat sank or it was a row boat. It is a shame that these games aren't American made. I would rather see "On the Truck" than "On the Boat".

I don't want to bash them because I own several titles from them (all Star Wars) and love the games, but if they state Q1 2018 I would plan for very late March or very early Q2 2018. It will be worth the wait but I don't think anyone wants to wait. Most of us will want to paint everything before even playing and since most of us have families that is going to add to the time it takes to get a solid game played.

I'm in the March wagon as well

March if we're lucky. Runewars was supposed to be Q1 2017 and didn't make FLGS shelves until mid-April.

Really surprised FFG didn't try to hit a Christmas release like they did with SWLCG and SWIA. Granted Legion is a big-box gamer game, it would have made sense to get X-mas and TLJ buzz sales.

I think the plan was Christmas release (Designer kept saying Christmas or end of year at Gencon), but they wanted less space between Core and Wave 1 so they pushed it back

Pretty much though the designer only said that day 1. The second day of gencon he was saying q1

Surely most would want an Xmas release and a longer space between the next wave rather than intentional delay of release and a shorter follow up wave?

I remember how annoying Armada was with just the starter box. You basically only had one real option for each side with a little variation.

I believe this is the better business decision and better for early gameplay options... but personally it would have been preferable for me to have a few pieces to begin painting and assembling while I had a few days off for the holidays. As I'm new to this type of game, the extra time would have helped me get some figures on a table sooner.

This had been what they did with Armada and RW it hurts the games more than it helps it
