Avenger Batrep

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada Battle Reports

Did a new battle tonight. Tried using the Avenger title without Sloane or Boarding Parties.

I might have to try out your idea.

interesting to use the Raider II with overloard pulse... very interesting idea.

Yeah, it's nice but tough to get to work also means giving your opponent an opportunity to move the target before getting Avengered as you need to activate the Raider first.

unless you're firing at corvettes, you should be able to get a decent shot with the ISD. The main issue IMO is the way the move is telegraphed.

Yep, and Gunnery Teams on the Raider are nice as you can tag two targets. Screed usually helps with the crits so it's interesting to see Vader using it; more risky but helps with the Avenger follow-up.

Two Targets, and also extended to Long Range due to the capacitors.

The enhanced range and double targets sort of makes it less telegraphed and more wide open.

However, telegraphing your plan to the enemy isn't always a bad thing. It can force their hand. Also, with 5 activations and typically 2nd player, many rounds I ended up having the last TWO activations, which really helped me take my time and have some choice on when and where I wanted to shoot.

Nice Batrep.

I find myself so preoccupied with trying some of your ideas I have no time to play my own!

double post...

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)
+ Comms Net (2)
Bossk (23)
Tie Fighter Squadron (8)

I know it's not released yet....but here are some nice points to be had. I'm playing in a CC campaign soon and could try it since we are using unreleased new stuff.

Cymoon with Spinals gives you an extra shot at long range with turbo's and a few points to spend extra. I downgraded the Light cruiser because I like this better with Vader...still cheaper. This build could REALLY benefit from Entrapment Formation I think, just to get that perfect range. An additional turbolaser on the ISD? More fighter support? Heck, even upgraded gozantis shooting double reds in addition to the rest of the firepower.

This leaves a big bid. (useless in CC) or lots of points to add stuff. Lots of wiggle room.

I always enjoy your lists but light squadrons always scare me off. I almost always play folks with full squadron compliments. I feel like you could be in trouble if a Bomber Swarm showed up.

He fought and won against a pretty big fighter compliment.

Point taken but he is also way more skilled and experienced then I am...

What an interesting battle.

I think trading the ISD was inevitable once you turned it into the pile of bombers. But it was certainly a trade up given the objective.

Good job!
