I have been running a rebellion game and have just been supplying the team basic items, and them special stuff from Duty ranks.
Do you pay your rebel soliders a base rate per rank? Or how do you handle money for your rebellion games?

For the first while in our aor game we were cut off from the rebellion so the only thing we received was some items for duty. We had the option to go and work for the community we were in but otherwise we only got credits if a trooper we eliminated had some on them... which never happened. However we were able to supply our whole outfit with the troopers' castoffs.
Now that we are reunited with our fleet we have access to most anything we need/ want from our armoury. And still no pay as yet.
Mind you we have been given leave for doing such a great job dealing with our mission so myself and a team mate are traveling around and doing some trading while the group takes a break.
When they earn a contribution rank they get a piece of equipment with a rarity equal to 3 + their new contribution rank

The Rebellion isn't like an official, standard military. They are the rebels, the group that are resisting with whatever resources they have on hand. They don't really have the infrastructure to provide troops a regular income and benefits, like the Empire can. Because they are the illegal organization.
Now, they have a support structure, sure, but it's very mercurial. They might have a powerful and wealthy noble family on Planet Z supporting them. But then that noble might die, or switch sides because Vader shows up at his house and threatens his family. And now that flow of credits is gone.
If you are playing an AOR heavy game, and the main focus is the fight against the Empire, then credits should be sporadic at best. In fact, if the players are worried about credits, they should proactively do things to try and obtain them. Either as a sidequest to pull off a heist of some kind, or perhaps establish some legit business ventures to get some steady income.
They can establish a Business using the Base rules from the AOR books, one of the upgrades for that is a regular credit influx per in-game month (I think). But to just say "You guys each get 100 credits per month because you are in the Rebellion" I think is a bad choice. It limits a lot of great campaign opportunities, and also doesn't help to enforce the idea that the Rebellion are fighting and surviving hand to mouth, not really establishing a massive source of wealth.
The answer is never enough for what they do; their reward is probably a pat on the back while most of the imperial dignitaries disband the millitry and leave a whole bunch of vets out of pocket.
Needless to say; I don't really trust the republic to do a good job. XD
I did the 'cut off from the Alliance' bit too, but even before then the only real profit the party made was in stolen/looted materiel and credits. They were (and are again now that they've got a little fleet of their own) issued a handful of resources like stimpacks and grenades in between missions, and they've betimes received big payouts in gear through Contribution or allies they met, but other than that they've had to be self-sufficient.
In the campaign I run, the PCs are part of a larger rebel force (pre-Yavin) with access to a small fleet. That means they have free room and board aboard the frigate they're based on and free reloads and repairs for their Y-wings. They get no monetary pay which has caused some friction with an allied smuggler who only aids them on a contractual basis.
I've toyed with the idea of paying them in IOU's, redeemable once the republic is reinstated.
Well from the back of the book it talks a little bit about the formal pay the Rebellion gets and how it is in "alliance credits" rather then Imperial credits, I make sure my players make a note of their Alliance credits vs Imperial Credits so instead of giving them new items and equipment that is just theirs to keep for every mission I give them Alliance credits which can be spent at their bases Armory to acquire equipment for all jobs, They DO get small items that are specific for a job, but unless they bought it they have to return it after mission, if they dont it's taken out of the pay. Essentially my bases thought process is every team is different so every team feels the need for different item set ups, but supplies are limited so we cant just give everyone luxury stuff (attachments for their weapons and fancy armor) so the people that have been able to make do with what they have get can more likely purchase a few extra grenades beyond the typical stipend or an attachment or extra rations or what have you, this also has a small black market on the Alliance base that actually helps keep things "civil" if you will, command knows it is going on, but they also know that it helps the troops keep the edge off.
Basically the pay is dependent on the mission and using the money any where other then the base or with the bases black market is nearly impossible. Should a character say they have no real need for the alliance credits as they dont need the extra stuff from the base they may be paid in a small amount of Imperial credits as a means to use for bribery or to sweeten any trade deal they come across in the field should they desire it, after all Imperial Credits are just as much a tool as a Datapad or a blaster.
They earn the respect and gratitude of the galactic population for delivering them from evil.
