Are you directing that towards Blail? If so, then you are missing out. He's one of the better posters on these forums for a long time.
What don't you like? That he said he's finding himself not as interested in the game and he's looking for inspiration to play the game? What's wrong with that. It's not like he's the only one out there that is having issues with the game. His post wasn't that negative.

I’ve always appreciated your reasonableness and generally agree with you on how to not overreact on a forum but when someone posts two consecutive “I’m bored, ergo the game sucks” type threads, I see why it raises the ire of the community.
Not enjoying it, Blail? Cool! No need to try and repeatedly bring others down, take a break and play something else. We will be here waiting if you come back.

Thanks for that. I know it's easy to just bash other people on the internet where no one knows each other. I've been coming here for years, though, and the one thing that has made these forums great is that there hasn't been a lot of that when compared to other places. Most people have been pretty reasonable, even if we all have bad days every now and again. Many people have been coming here for years and it has helped make the forums here pretty good....if you know how to avoid the worst. When I see people just out bashing others....especially when they have a low post count...it just makes me sad. There is no need to not be decent to each other.

The recent events concerning the podcast have taken the forum down more than Blair Berg does with his post.
The devs have basically taken the hopes and dreams of many here, dipped them in tar, put them in a barrel with feathers... then set them on fire while having a laugh on them.
While some optimists have put some effort for the past months to try and keep the spirit up in the forum with countless posts about diverse, happy things to move the attention away from the worries of the game... the devs have managed to bring the mood down lower than every just by opening their mouths.
While we have had worse metas, people at least had hopes that everything was going to be better.
In the S&V podcast the devs have literally said that they don't care about entire archetypes not being viable now or in the future, that they dismiss most proper theoretical balancing like the one done by MajorJuggler, that if they need to choose between new game modes or just more ships, they will always go for just more ships, and many many other things that have hit many many different groups of fans under the belt.
There is a difference between these two things:
The first would be whining.
The second is expressing outrage.

Are you talking about the S&V podcast? Or something else? I should listen to it.

Yes, the S&V podcast that you can listen to in another post in the front page of the forum. There is some nice summaries of what is said in that same post, so you can skip listenting to the whole podcast and instead going to the point. Those are literal transcriptions (I have checked by listening the whole podcast, because at the beginning I couldn't believe they were true).

I only have limited time for anything at all, and right now, theres little reasons to spend it on Xwing.
It's funny how many forum members reject and make fun of your post yet so many of us agree with you...

Then you - like he - should either crap or get off the pot, just stop trying to drag the rest of the forum down the u-bend with you.

I'll listen to it as I like their podcast. I'm behind as I've been listening to ghost story podcasts to get in the feel for Halloween.
I would love the chance to play in an actual tournament, but maybe it's better that the option isn't available to me where I live. It does free up the small group I play with to just do our own thing without having to worry about... THE META!
Personally, I like seeing different builds on the table every week. Trying out different strategies makes you a better player. So, in the spirit of taking responsibility for my own good time, I came up with an idea that I thought might keep things fresh for the people I play with. It's done right by us so far. Winner rolls a D20 and puts some type of restriction on the next week's build. One mulligan roll is allowed.
01: Squad Points -20
02: Squad Points -10
03: 3 Ships or Less
04: 4 Ships or More

06: No Pilot Skill Higher than 6

08: Generic Pilots Only

15: No Elite Upgrades
16: No Secondary Weapons

20: Squad Points +20
So I guess I'm saying that sometimes you just need to get creative. This setup has worked for me, but something completely different might work for you. Don't let someone else dictate your level of enjoyment. Even if it's the game's designers.

I'm an Armada player now, X Wing is dead at the local wargame club (and frankly IMO Armada is a slightly better game, certainly much better balanced) but I do still enjoy X Wing and have lurked here for a long time but didn't join the forum.
Frankly in the past I have seen rudeness on here so bad that if somebody spoke to me in that fashion face to face I would have to restrain myself from smacking them in the mouth and I'm 52, far too old for fighting lol. "The guy's wife died, so what?" being one low point from years back that springs to mind. Utterly disgusting no matter what the debate was about. What disagreement over plastic spaceships could possibly warrant THAT? There have been many others maybe not quite so bad but unpleasant enough to put me off joining for a long time.
Now, ironically the atmosphere and standard of behaviour seems to be improving just as X Wing appears to be at the start of a long decline. The endless "fix it" threads are irritating and pointless but surely are a symptom of something wrong in the game. Meanwhile over at the Armada forum all seems pretty much fine and tranquil. Driving home from the wargames club last Monday discussing our great Armada game and our upcoming Corellian Conflict campaign my opponent spontaneously commented how he hoped Armada didn't become broken like X Wing. Says it all really. Between us me and him have nearly 75 years of wargaming experience so we flatter ourselves we know something in decline when we see it and whilst interest in tournaments is still high I think there's more "churn" now as the old hands like me and my play group leave and new players join, but how long will they stay? Legion, the miniatures game will not really affect Armada IMO but if it decimated X Wing's player base I would not be surprised.

If X-Wing isn’t new enough... start playing a little Armada or Destiny.
Armada is an awesome game, can’t recommend it enough.
Destiny can be expensive, but with a little planning, $30-$40 can get you a solid deck that can run at the store level

There were low points. I won't disagree. Maybe I was just better at filtering it out?

I know exactly what you talk about. I played my empire list for the past half year (Vessery, Quickdraw Omega Leader or Double Edge) on tournaments. While I did well here and there (2nd place at a store of 28 people, 2nd place at a 14 people GNK, 5th place with 4 out of 5 wins at a 22 player tournament) I got bored of my list. And even if I did well, only at 1 tournament I had the feeling I could make it - even with the drawback of playing empire. As soon as the other player places Dengar my hopes sink - especially after one game in which I really quickly killed Assaj, but Dengar managed nearly alone to kill my 3 ships (Vessery, QD and Omega). I won anyway but it did not feel like it. Even tough I flew much better (good position always - managed some blocks) - Dengar wrecked my list.
But I don´t want to play Rear Admiral with Kylo. And i dont want to switch faction (empire is always my main faction - the other ships I just collect for the cards). I feel like empire is in a dead-end state tournamentwise. And as soon as I try new stuff I know I get stomped at the tournaments with supereffective action economy lists. Especially on scum site. Have to play agains RauBoats, Dengar/Nym, Dash/Miranda...
So I wait now for Kylo (Tie Silencer) or the Assault Gunboat... and even more for a FAQ finally!
I wonder how we ever played games for years without even thinking of an expansion?

We didn’t have Internet, I can remember wearing a first edition Talisman board out with my friends. We had expansions but often played with maybe only one for the random crown of command effect. Internet, cell phones, and this everything has to be new attitude is ruining tabletop gaming. Call me old but it’s true. Not a fan of the new mentality in this country but it too will pass.
