Wave X Command Card Impressions

By brettpkelly, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Think you're fairly on point. Well stated.

Personally, I've found Ahsoka's card is quite excellent. Three unmitigated damage for 1 point would be good on its own, but the fact that you use it when an attack is declared is that much better. Will it kill a practiced player before they can attack? Probably not. Then again, the deterrent is enough that your opponent may avoid attacking Ahsoka at all with a low health figure. Should the other player risk it for the 8 points - which will happen when the clock is ticking - it's a joy to punish them by another four. It's Greedo-esque in its risk / reward.

As for Heavy Ordnance, while I haven't used it, I think it's solid as a second (with restrictions) Positioning Advantage in your deck.

Officer’s Training (0 points, Leader)

The real point of this card is to mill your deck to draw your expensive cards. It helps that this card is for leaders, which is a very common trait. A free re-roll is not a bad bonus either. This is a must include in Jedi Luke lists

Correction: This card is for any miniature, not just Leaders (it's a big difference)
This is simply a must include card in every list i'd say, it's just too strong, maybe the strongest command card in the expansion since Face to Face is more situational XD
(Re-rolling is ALWAYS a god blessing, despite of drawing or not a card)

I stand by my categorization. It's definitely a big plus that it can be used by any figure, but the bigger benefit to me is the card draw. In the same way the Comm Disruption is a spy card even though it technically doesn't have a restriction, I consider Officer's Training a Leader card.

If by rerolling i get to kill something important, i'll just don't give a **** about drawing one card XD
Being a leader is a surplus, something more you can get, but that doesn't mean Officer's Training is bad without doing so :P -> that's why i believe it's the best card in the expansion, you just get benefits over benefits :)
Then sure, i get your point!

If you don't have any attacking leaders it's just "mitigate" which isn't an essential add by any means. If you have a merc list with Jabba and 2x Weequays for example, it's not an auto-include.

Yeah I don't think you can throw out a slightly better mitigate and convince me it's the star of this expansion. Honestly mitigate doesn't even make it into that many of my lists right now because there are just better options. It's definitely a really solid card and if you've got leaders that will be attacking often (Hera, Luke, Han, Ahsoka) then you defintely want it in your list. But I'm thinking either Ready Weapons or Concentrated Fire will be better.

Channel the Force is still a terrible card until they make a Force User card that is better than every other command card in the game. Otherwise you're just decreasing your chances of drawing the strongest card in your deck.

I will run Force Jump in Vader.dec as Jump Jets copy #2 just because it's so good with him and Zillo makes dead command cards much less of an issue.

I actually thinking more in vader/ palp or vader and palp lists so is neat to ensure a 1 or 0 force user card depends on the map. For example, force jump in Nal Hutta swamps or force rush in every map.

I want to try out a Imperial Force User list with Channel the Force. Obviously will be difficult to be uber-competitive with it. But I think it would be lots of fun to pull out a mobility Force User card and then one of the cost-3 Imperial Force User cards for the start of round 2.
