Corellian Conflict Finale

By OccasionallyCorrect, in Star Wars: Armada

My All Out Assault is only one game away, and my rebels have room for one more medium based ship. We're torn between a Pelta to feed us nav tokens, or another AFB with gunnery teams to throw some dice. The admiral of this ship would be Ackbar, and I'm just curious how useful that Pelta is on the grand scale. I've never used it in a 1500 point match before.

The Pelta--specifically, its fleet support slot--has the potential to be super good in the AOA, as long as the rest of the fleet can leverage it. STM! gets pretty good because you can end up with a lot of "incidental" shots happening across the board, and the game tends to segment off into a number of smaller engagements, meaning lots of ships are likely to benefit from it each round that it stays out.

Funny, I hadn't even considered STM because I never use it in smaller games. We have a pretty heavy activation advantage, and that could prove to be a difference maker...

Thanks, a lot to think about!

Any of the fleet commands can be situationally very usefull in the AOA. There is a lot of ground to cover, so if you have slower bombers All Fighters Follow Me might be a difference-maker. STM has already been praised, and allowing all your ships essentially a nav token every single turn is unbelievably powerful as it let's be you totally unpredictable in where you will be turn to turn.

A frigate throws a lot of dice, but I would look at the board. If you have a couple of MSU fleets and are going to be facing some ISD's dropping out of hyperspace on you, it might be better to take something that will improve your chances overall than just chuck more dice.

Take the cheap Pelta with a fleet command and throw ER on it in case someone tries to jump in behind you.
