QUESTION:

Can I play a deck of neutral characters?

Can I then include Hero and Villain Events, Supports and Upgrades?

PART 4. CUSTOMIZATION:
Customization happens before playing a game. Players can experience the game in new ways by developing one-of-a-kind strategies and combinations.

1. BUILDING A TEAM
To build a team, a player chooses up to 30 points of characters.
BULLET.JPG A player must select either hero or villain characters; hero and villain characters cannot be on the same team.
BULLET.JPG A player can select only one copy of each unique (*) character, but they can select any number of copies of non- unique characters. When selecting a unique character, the player must choose whether to use the elite (larger point value, two dice) or non-elite (smaller point value, one die) version of that character.
BULLET.JPG A player must choose at least one character.
BULLET.JPG There are no restrictions based on a character’s color. A player may include characters of the same color or different colors on their team.

2. BUILDING A DECK
A deck includes exactly 30 cards.
BULLET.JPG The deck cannot include more than 2 copies of the same card.
BULLET.JPG If a team has hero characters, its deck cannot contain villain cards. If a team has villain characters, its deck cannot contain hero cards. Neutral cards can be included in any deck.
BULLET.JPG Blue, Red, and Yellow cards can only be included in the deck if the team includes a character of the matching color. Gray cards can be included in any deck.
BULLET.JPG A deck can contain events, upgrades, and supports. Characters and battlefields are not included in a deck and do not count toward its 30 card limit.

The article seemed to indicate that in constructed play you still have to choose either Hero or Villain when using a Neutral character. So you can't build a deck of only Neutral characters, and you can't mix Hero/Villain using a neutral character outside of draft/sealed.

From the article:

" As a neutral character, Anakin can be built with an exclusively hero or exclusively villain deck in constructed play..."

"Anakin can be used as a hero, teamed up with characters like Rey, Finding the Ways (Two-Player Starter, 24) to provide a steady stream of shields or with Villains like Captain Phasma, Ruthless Tactician (Two-Player Starter, 2) to create a team focused on pure damage. Anakin can slot into a hero or villain deck perfectly in constructed play."

Although notably, you could run eFinn/eAnakin and discard Villain red Vehicles/Weapons to use Anakin's special to deal two damage. Not sure how competitive it would be, but there you go.

Articles aren't rules and until they update the rules we don't know what the rules for them will be.

Currently as they are written you can't play Neutral characters at all.

And based on the deck building rules as they are written, if you could play all neutral team, you could include Hero and Villain cards.

But it's all meaningless until they update the the rules reference.

Article can indicate all it wants but until we get the actual written rules we have no idea how neutral characters are built with.

According to the current rules, neutral characters literally cannot be used. Thus, it requires a rework of the deck building rules at minimum. This is obvious to happen, but we dont know the specifics of the result.

I imagine it will be something along the lines of 'if playing neutral characters you must choose an affiliation, (hero or villain), for the purpose of building a deck.

I don't see why in the future players wouldn't be able to build completely neutral decks as more draft packs come out and field a neutral team.
