Tokens or markers?

By Darksyde, in Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game Beta

Now that some people have games under their belts what kind of tokens or markers would you like to have for your games? FFG is fond of their tokens so I imagine some are already in the works but what do you guys think you would actually use?

I'll use the honor and fates token from the LCG. Got 2 cores so far.

I wand a d6 with the 5 elements on it for "which stance?"
Spindowns for wounds and strife... red and white

What would you do for side six, just leave it blank?

Shadowlands Taint symbol?

Assorted family specific and general clan 'mon' tokens would be useful for initiative/stance/map tracking. Make them small coin size and they can sit on stance indicators on character sheets or locations on a map (if you use them).

Strife and wound tokens are interesting but not exactly vital.

Technique flashcards and enemy flashcards as per Edge of the Empire would be cool.

the 5 Rings Rosette, or a clan symbol, or as Grendel-san suggests, the taint symbol, or yes, even blank.

Heck, a "Great Clans" pack of these - 10 such dice, one with each great clan kamon, one with the Rosette, and one with the Hantei kamon.

Wait - better - 5 pack, blank 6th side, and a sheet of 1 cm diameter kamon stickers (color) to go in it.

I like the kamon tokens idea. 1.5 cm or so. (Same size as destiny tokens for SW.)

I expect technique and enemy flashcards are going to be de rigeur for FFG for all game lines henceforth that have major core sales.

For new players I'm printing up a 3x5 card reference for each Ring for stance / assessment checks, and printing up a reference card for most actions (attack, support, charge, ect) so that they can see everything easily for themselves as they use it. They can leave what stance they are in out in front so i can see everyone's stances easily in addition to their reference.

Once people are familiar with it, I'm thinking I'll use the tokens from the L5R LCG ring tokens to let people set their stance visibly once they know the actions, so I can see their elements easily.

A token/marker/die to mark your stance could be good; however i always fear the die will be rolled over during play, and token buried under sheets (or bowl full of snacks... for a while...)

What about cards with stance? on the front there are the card logo, on the back a table with opportunity cost/option
and a plastic stand to put the card on, so you can put that in front of you. So it's a 3D stand point.

If they are clever, they can sell special deck with techniques (one for each major clan, ofc), and the 5 stance/opportunity in it. And the deck came with a case where you can put the stance/opportunity card on it... ok i'm saying nonsense :D

As for strife/wound marker, we had a similar problem with Numenera/The Strange where stats pool are a constant wave of consuming, healing, consuming again and we solved in 2 different method:
- usign an app to keep track of them
- using coloured plastic marker (like the one you use in some CCG)

Strife counter wheel or plastic scoreboard, similar to the one you see on "clix" series miniatures, could be cool. Maybe with a fancy samurai figure on top of them, different from clan to clan, bushi, shugenja... that's 4 samurai type (bushi, shugenja, courtier, "special one"), times 7 clan, plus 3 "generic" for minor clan. Add in 2x ronin (bushi-like and shugenja-like), shintao monk (2 or 3) and of course imperial families (3 is enough?). Time 2 for gender specific are... less than 80 miniatures!! (put in a nezumi and a couple of naga and you can go easily to 80).
Ok ok... that's too many ones... (also because i will sure buy EVERYONE OF THEM!! :P )

the problem with opportunity reference cards is that a given ring has a lot of opportunities tied to it. I tried to make up some reference sheets and they only barely fit on an A4 page:

I was able to fit the opportunity spends and listed actions of two sides of letter.
