Razorwings and their route ability?

By Maggotbrain, in Runewars

Seems kinda bunk that these puny neutral units can route 2 of my best units in the begenning of the battle before they get a chance to attack. That makes em in my mind better than dragons and giants. I wonder if by "higher initiatives" they ment 1-2 instead of 2-5. Don't know about you but its unsetteling to me that my siege towers and dark knights turn tail and run from a couple of winged bats. I had a battle in a recent game 2 razorwings and an archer vrs 2 reanimates 2 darknights and a dragon. My oppenant was lucky enough, killed one reanimate with the archer, then pulled two specials causing an obvious superior army to turn and route like a bunch of scared little girls.

-hmmmm I think next time ill get the razorwings

I think the razors would still be good if they routed initiative 1-2 units causing me to assign damage to my tough units first. seems they are overpowered!

If they only routed 1-2, they would suck. A lot. The whole POINT of the Stun ability is they stun units moving LATER - IE, you can't use the ability to stun figures that have already participated.

They just emphasize the need to diversify armies - don't rely on a whole pack of heavy hitters, because they can have weaknesses like this. If you diversify your army and bring in a couple 2-5-initiative cannon fodder, they can absorb the routes so your heavies don't have to.

I take it your 2 Dark Knights or Dark Knight and a Dragon that you had left drew blanks? I think that's what I'd be more upset about.

He had 2 razorwings and an archer. You had 2 reanimates, 2 dark knights and a dragon. He killed one reanimate with the archer, leaving you with 1 reanimate, 2 dark knights and a dragon. He drew 2 orbs with his razorwings, dealing 1 rout each to units of initiative 2 or higher. This routs the reanimate and one of your dark knights or dragon. You draw cards for either 2 dark knights or 1 dark knight and a dragon and then __________.

doh both of us read it as route 2 units, gonna have to slow down on the scotch. thanks that seems a little more fair.

The whole idea of Routing is that it's sowing disorder and confusion among the army; the Razorwings may stun the units at key times to cause the superior army to be in disarray.

Numerically superior armies don't always win fights, even historically. Sometimes things happen that cause the underdog to not just win, but to win decisively. This merely is one way this can happen in Runewars.
