After many game I have change my list:

-Maul 7

-E weequay 7

-vinto 5

-greedo 5

-jabba 6

-black market 1

-temporary 1

-chopper 3

-c3po 2

-clawdite 4

what you think? This one is nice fun in nul hutta A

Greedo is 4.

I dunno if the regular clawdite is worth it, position and point wise.

I think dropping him, temp alliance +1 from greedo, you could get a couple of jawas. 1 Ejawa allows for the droids. They last just as long or longer than the clawdite, shoot better and do some other fun stuff. with the 3 pts you could grab another jawa or R2 for card scomping. I think Hired guns are better than the regular clawdite as well and fit the theme just as well or better.

Iggy w/fok

Maul

Elite Pirates w/explosive arm

Elite Jawa

BT-1

Jabba w/Crumb

C3P0

Devious Scheme

=40

been playing this one lately...not bad at all

with hunter cards and couple decent droid cards with the rest of the must takes, this is a challenging but fun list

Cheers

In the few times I've played him, I found Maul to be a really good clean-up character. The ability to choose reach and cleave allows you to finish off heavily wounded figures while still getting a proper attack in to somebody else. Also, he's a great focus candidate because you'll be getting the activation out of him no matter what, and then you can have both sides of the double bladed Fury ability in the same attack, which results in a LOT of damage among multiple figures.

sorry guys was re-reading post, and found the list I posted was well over 40 points....fixed it ;)

I view maul as a cleanup piece. He's a little too squish and slow to be a front line fighter. Maybe something like this:

bantha rider

beast tamer

IG-88

maul

eWeequays

greedo

The last 11 points are your choice. My goal was trying to make sure maul is the third biggest threat on the board.

Honestly though, with temp alliance, Ahsoka is worth the extra point in this list.

Like most of the melee characters, Maul is a little squishy. Using him as a cleanup character is your best bet. However, I wanted throw him into the fray. This is the list I came up with:

Shyla 8

Maul 7

Onar 6

Vinto 5

rQuays 5

Greedo 4

Gideon 3

Temporary Alliance 1

Devious Scheme 1

Shyla, Maul and Onar is a fun combo. They're like a three-headed monster of destruction. Shyla whips them in then Maul and Onar cleanup. Vinto, Greedo and the rQuays served well as ranged finishers and objective runners. Maul was still targeted first (I think that's because he was fresh out of the blister pack with HotE just dropping). I did beat an eRangers, Ko-Tun, Ahsoka list on Nal Hutta Swamps with this list, so it can pull its weight.

to me, Maul feels like he's one of those characters that is waiting for some synergy from a future expansion. He's usable now, but there's not a lot of good synergies for his traits at current time. Give me some Night Sisters, or maybe even Asajj Ventress and we can have some merc faction fun.

In my experience Maul functions a lot like the Grand Inquisitor. He isn't your main fighter, but he is a good bodyguard.

Maul is hard to kill. By that I mean: he can really eat some damage before he goes. For some reason people really prioritize damaging him.

Use this fact to your advantage by using maul to block line of sight, and for semi-suicide runs against juicy targets. (Han/C3p0, gideon, jabba, etc.) In fact maul and the inquisitor really pair well if you want to have high hp assassins in your squad.

what about something like this:

The Grand Inquisitor (9)

Temporary Alliance (1)

^ Maul (7)

2 Elite Riot or Jet Troopers w/ Cross Training (16)

Agent Blaise, BT-1, or Elite Clawdite (6)

Zillo Technique (1)

You could also trade one of the riot troopers or jets for Weequays to add more sniping/hunters to the mix.

I have a list very similar to that. I swapped out Blaise and Cross Training for BT-1 and an Officer for more firepower and a terminal sitter. BT adds that "who do I go for first" effect even more and distracts from your assassins and troops. The hard part imo is actually choosing between the eRiots and eJets. They are both nasty units. Either list would be a pain to play against.

if it were me, I would choose 1 elite riot, 1 Weequay and keep Blaise, BT-1, or the Clawdite to have a full 3 way split between Brawler/Hunter/ and Spy skirmish cards.

When I use him, I usually make Agent Blaise be my terminal sitter- to focus on distributing the hidden buff he offers. It helps to keep him out of relative danger. I send him in or round 2-3 depending on enemy placement if i need to.

I had another crazy idea:

What about maul either being included in a rebel list w/ Ahsoka, obiwan or having these two rebels join a scum list with him.

Here's one I have tried and had good fun with:

12 Jedi Luke

7 Maul

7 El. weequay

4 Greedo

3 Jawa

2 C3PO

3 Gideon

1 Temp Ally

1 Black Market

Here's one you could try with Maul and Obi Wan

7 Maul

7 Obi Wan

2 C3PO

1 Temp Ally

7 Weequay

6 Onar

6 El Clawdite

4 Greedo
