Adaptive Ailerons + Twin Ion Engine

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Curious - if I have this combination equipped and overlap debris with a 1 bank initial move from the Ailerons - Does that mean I can immediately remove the stress because I performed a green maneuver?

Likewise if I perform a straight or bank maneuver coming through (template overlapping) the debris, I should be able to immediately remove stress and still perform my action.

Am I correct in my thinking on this?

Assuming that you moved through the debris with your Aileron move, you suffer the normal effects of that overlap (stress and possible damage). Then, when your move comes along, treat it exactly like you normally would: Green maneuver, clear stress, perform action.

If, on the other hand, you overlapped an obstacle with your normal maneuver... yeah, you're eating that stress. ;)

No.

Green moves don't clear the stress from debris. From this perspective the situation is analogous to performing a green move through a debris off your dial.

If you gain the stress from the debris with your aileron move, you can clear it with your normal move, though.

If only strikers had a system, then you could run them with Adaptive, Engine Upgrade, and Collision Detector for a whole load of fun *)

First thing is first Adaptive Ailerons reads:

Immediately before you reveal your dial, if you are not stressed, you must execute a white 1 bank or straight manoeuvre.

Therefore running through a debris cloud would not clear stress off an Adaptive Ailerons Manoeuvre.

However you could do the Ailerons move followed by a green manoeuvre (bank or otherwise), clear the stress that was gained from the Ailerons and as long as you didn't gain an additional stress from the debris cloud when executing the green manoeuvre you would be free to do an action.

Even then, once you’re in/on an obstacle, you ignore the obstacle the next time you move, don’t you?

Not necessarily. If you've hit it in such a way that your template will overlap it again the next time you move, then you're going to hit again.

The heck. My roommate made it sound like you ignored it completely on your next activation? I see the rule now, idk if he misread it or I misunderstood him. Both have happened frequently in our searches for accurate rulings ?

You'd get to ignore the part DIRECTLY underneath you when you start. Anything hanging over the edge has the normal effects and if you land back where you started you're still affected by it.

Yeah, I know. He just confused me.
