Hey everyone,

tonight is x-wing night at my store, and I haven't flown scum in a while. I wanted something fun and thematic, so I put this together:

Boba Fett [Lone Wolf, Bomblet Generator, Cad Bane, Engine Upgrade] (50)

Bossk [Daredevil, “Mangler” Cannon, 4-LOM, Inspiring Recruit, Zuckuss, Burnout Slam, Engine Upgrade] (50)

These ships are expensive, have low agility, and often go down pretty fast. What the heck am I thinking?

I really like the idea of bomblet on Boba because of what it forces the opponent to do. Being in range 1 of Boba was always a problem, and now with Bomblet in the mix hopefully people will be running away for their lives, or chasing Bossk. I had thought about running Expert Handling on him for some crazy re-positioning, but was a bit torn, and wanted a consistent way to re-roll. What do you think? A barrel roll could help him escape his own bombs, or get into range one...

I love the houndstooth, but maneuverability has always been an issue, so I have three ways to address it: Daredevil, Engine Upgrade, and Burnout Slam. Daredevil means that I can get back into the fight pretty quickly, and Inspiring Recruit can help take that stress away next turn; Engine Upgrade means that I can make minor adjustments as needed; and Burnout Slam means I can get out of dodge with a couple of three maneuvers. Between Bossk's ability, Mangler Cannon, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM, there isn't a terribly pressing need to take actions, which frees me up to re-position as long as I can clear stress.

you need the andrasta title on boba

Do I need this for a third bomb slot? Boba has one bomb slot already, and Cad Bane gives him a second, so I'm covered for Bomblet Generator.

Oh, I see. The app I was using keeps putting prox mines in the second slot when I add Bomblets. Boba has no prox mines, so no need for the Andrasta title.

Boba seems fine. If you need a point somewhere, switching from Lone Wolf to VI isn't bad. Getting Glitterstim on Boba Fett can be really strong when paired with his innate rerolls. He also needs the Slave One title. Not for game-reasons, but just because he's Boba Fett. :P

Bossk... I'm running into all my own prejudices. First, I've always hate-hate-hated Mangler Cannon on any 3-red ship. I hate paying 4 points to only get a crit and to take away the range 3 bonus. It just always bugs me, even though I might be wrong. Also, as much as I love Burnout Slam on a YV, I might drop it here, since you already have Engine Upgrade. I know the use is different (3 straight/bank into 3 turn to set up the next turn's attack run), but it is mildly redundant in the particular build. It'd be nice to have, but I'd cut early for points.

Daredevil is interesting. Doing a 1-bank into a 1-hard "boost" is pretty neat, instead of a 3-hard into a 1-bank-boost. That's cutting the turning angle down a lot. I don't know if Zuckuss/4-LOM are the best crew for the ship, though (and consider skipping Inspiring Recruit if you skip Zuckuss). First, you won't be able to Zuckuss after a Daredevil move, due to the errata on him (he can't be used if you're already stressed). Second, between Zuckuss and Daredevil, I'm going to want as many Green moves as I can get, and White Ion moves from 4-LOM seem sub-optimal. Third, it would be nice to get more mods onto your attack dice. When you Daredevil, you no only won't be able to Zuckuss, but you won't be able to Focus either. Getting Dengar crew on there would be great; rerolls if you Daredevil or Boost, and double-mods if you Focus. Tactician would be solid as well. Would putting Latts Razzi on there too be too silly? I feel like her (stress too infrequent to count-on), Outlaw Tech (for a focus if you stall or have to Hard-2 to fit somewhere, which might not be often), or Mercenary Co-Pilot (2 points for a crit only at range 3 is so little value) are just of too limited use. Maybe putting Burnout Slam back on is worthwhile.

Just finished the first game. The list did well, and won, but it was close.

Took TheBitterFig’s advice and made some adjustments. Here’s the new version. Gearing up for round two:

Boba: EU, Bomblet, Cad Bane, Expert Handling

Bossk: 4-LOM, K4, Mangler, Daredevil, EU

Alright,

Round 2 did not go so well. A lot of it was due to flying, but I think that the list can be fine-tuned a lot more. Overall, though, I love flying these two ships together.

Here's the new Firehound list. What do you think?

Boba Fett [Expert Handling, K4 Security Droid, Glitterstim, Slave-1, Engine Upgrade] (50)
Bossk [Daredevil, “Mangler” Cannon, Intelligence Agent, Outlaw Tech, Burnout Slam, Engine Upgrade] (50)

There's a good amount of action efficiency here, but, most of all, Bossk now gets to make very informed decisions about whether or not to boost or burnout. As long as Boba is pulling greens he can get a target lock and a barrel roll.

Thoughts?

Here's another take that I may try next time. The big difference is that I took Mangler Cannon off to add more crew...not sure how I feel about it.

Bossk [Daredevil, Greedo, Dengar, K4 Security Droid, Burnout Slam, Engine Upgrade] (50)
Boba Fett [Expert Handling, K4 Security Droid, Glitterstim, Engine Upgrade] (50)

I really am determined to make this work. Messing around with some ideas, and built out a fat Bossk with Kavil for support. The idea will be to run Kavil behind Bossk to deter enemies from trying to sneak up the rear. Here it is:

Bossk [Daredevil, “Mangler” Cannon, Homing Missiles, K4 Security Droid, Intelligence Agent, Boba Fett, Burnout Slam, Engine Upgrade] (57)

Kavil [Bomb Loadout, Extra Munitions, Twin Laser Turret, Unhinged Astromech, Expertise, Vectored Thrusters, Conner Net] (43)

I know it's probably trash. I'm probably going to try it out anyway.

This is probably how I'd fly Fett and Bossk.

"BoBo"

Firespray-31: · Boba Fett (39)

Fearlessness (1)

Autoblaster (5)

· Bomblet Generator (3)

Engine Upgrade (4)

· Cad Bane (2)

Glitterstim (2)

YV-666: · Bossk (35)

Adaptability (Increase) (0)

Engine Upgrade (4)

· Dengar (3)

Tactician (2)

-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

I really like A utoblaster and F earlessness pairing with Fett's pilot skill. You can get 4 unstoppable hits on a target at range 1 pretty easily with his rerolls and a focus. Then he's also a threat with bombs and can use his rear arc if need be.

Bossk just skirts around trying to keep things in arc as both of these ships love engine upgrade. Dengar is lovely rerolls and Tactician makes him a control piece of sorts as well (and it works in his 180° arc). I don't like Bossk tooled up too much as he can die really easily if focused early (Fett can too but with defensive rerolls and glitter, he's better at soaking shots). I don't think Mangler is worth it, he will get natural crits in there eventually.
