Emperor's Tempt ability

By buckero0, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

This may have been covered but it says " a figure od your choice suffers 1dmg and gains dmg token"

This doesn't seem optional, just that you may put damage on ypur opponents figures as well. I was playing a very character centric list and did not want extra damage on my figures due to the limited number of activations and health i had.

I just put the damage on 3P0 lol

or jabba

Why wouldn't you always put it on an opponents figure? Especially one that hasn't activated or one that already has a power token on it(they can only use one per attack) the only real reason to use it on your own figures is if you were trying to get a condition off on a hard to hit target I think.

i can't think of anytime i would want to hurt myself

But there's better food in the medical facility than general population!

someone like BT-1 who can recover would benefit from the extra damage token (especially since BT cant surge for dmg, and occasionally even a 4 dice attack from him feels pretty sad and you end up with useless surges).

I've used it on my own bossk and shyla :)

Some characters benefit from spending tokens. There's that, I guess.

If it's last round, or even towards the end of a round, and I think I need one more to kill a figure, I'd use it on my own figure.

Probe droids of both flavors and Terro/dewbacks with feeding frenzy could use it as well.

Typically it'll go to finishing off an opponent I think, but I could see several times where it would make sense on your own guy.

But if you use it on an enemy figure they still take an extra damage.

I think the right call is to almost always use it on an enemy figure, unless you think they will survive to use the token, and then maybe use it on your figure since then you at least get to choose which of your figures takes the damage. Or if you can easily recover.

Lol, very true. So I guess it only works best on your own figures if you're worried that one of your figures will die with an extra damage pushed through, but most of the time you'd be able to put it only someone who couldn't get to your figure. And of course for Maul towards the end. An interesting ability.
